IS/ Network Security Spec III

PRI.MARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manages the customer's firewalls and intrusion detection systems
• Analyzes complex local and wide area network systems, including planning, designing, evaluating, and selecting operating systems and protocol suites
• Configures communication media with concentrators, bridges, and other devices
• Develops, tests, and operates firewalls, intrusion detection systems, enterprise anti-virus systems, and software deployment tools.
• Researches, evaluates, tests, recommends, communicates, and implements new security software or devices
• Safeguards the network against unauthorized infiltration, modification, and destruction of disclosure
• Implements, enforces, communicates, and develops security policies or plans for data, software applications, hardware, and telecommunications
• Resolves difficult interoperability problems to obtain operation across all platforms
• Provides information to management regarding recommendations on engineering stands, implementation dependencies, and changing information assurance-related technologies
• Develops and improves processes and direction for projects

MINIMUM SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field and five plus (5+) years' of work experience in network systems engineering, including developing and implementing intrusion detection systems and firewalls or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Any travel required for this position will be 5%

DESIRED SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:

• Linux systems administration experience
• Knowledge of TCP/IP networking and security technologies and services
• Strong ability to automate tasks using scripting languages
• Currently hold a IAT Level II certification according to DoD 8570.01
