Position SummaryUnder general supervision, inspect, clean, dip shell molds, core pack after primary applications, and maintain backup slurry tanks in accordance with quality standards. Ensure that documentation and parts are correctly matched. Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Principle Accountabilities:

1. Investment Back Up Coater
Objective: To build the backup shell coat system sufficiently to withstand dewax pressure and the thermal shock of receiving molten metal. All phases must conform to specifications on technique cards and Quality Control Procedures.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Follow established housekeeping and safety practices to maintain the quality of the work environment under general supervision.
  • Perform visual inspection of prime coated assemblies. Use such measurIng devices as electronic drying meters, viscosity meters, weight and measures.
  • Follow technique cards for the size, placement and application of heat insulation ceramic blanket.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all sands and slurries are at the proper level, mixture and viscosity in the hand and the ROBOT lines.
  • Operate power mixers to exact recipe ingredient measures. Use hand tools of various types.
  • Adjust equipment to obtain optimum running condition.
  • Ensure bulk binder, flour and stucco stocks are sufficient and enter requisition for approval when levels fall to reorder point.
  • Possess signed record of ROBOT Training Program.
  • Know when shipments are due and ensure required truck and supply space available.
  • Demonstrate good eye hand coordination.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed.
  • Meet all production and quality standards. Follow set OCP’s and QCP’s.
  • Work safely when lifting, use transport devises and get help on heavier weighted items.
  • Dip Molds

2. Autoclave (Dewax)
Objective: To remove the wax pattern material from the shell without damage to the shell.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Verify lifting devices and pressure vessel documentation are in order and current.
  • Maintain supply of gaskets and change gasket as needed.
  • Remove as much wax as practical before entering autoclave.
  • Prepare molds for dewax, clean cup rims etc.
  • Stack molds in proper order to maintain lot integrity.
  • Verify computer documentation of time and temperature.
  • Verify autoclave time up to temperature and pressure per OPC’s.
  • Inspect molds after removal for cracks, cleanliness, etc.
  • Repair cracks; cover cups to protect from impurities as required,
  • Match shells to proper traveler and move to next station.
  • Follow tech cards to attach Kaowool blanket if required.
  • Keep work area clear of debris, paperwork in orderly manner and follow 5S guidelines.
  • Perform precise inspections of Autoclave prior to each use.

3. Investment Corepack Operator
Objective: To fill cavities in shell molds, mix and pour ceramic material to avoid bridging and/or to create stable ceramic areas, conforming to OPC’s, QCP’s and specifications on technique cards.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Work is subject to final inspection and check.
  • Operate in primary or back up shell building area.
  • Adjust equipment to obtain optimum running condition.
  • Inspect for surface distortion and poor drying, air traps, bubbles, cracks, breaks, sinks, and porous condition.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed. Meet all production and quality standards.
  • Set up equipment for optimal drying.
4. Safety
Objective: To take responsibility for and demonstrate safe work practices.
  • Adhere to plant and department safety rules
  • Safely operate all equipment and tools
  • Identify and report safety problems.
Additional Accountabilities:
  • Understand the fundamentals of pressure vessels.
  • Understand the fundamentals of boiler operation.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of explosive power of steam stored energy.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of leak detection and danger signs.
  • Perform all work deemed necessary to achieve Plant goals.
  • Train less skilled personnel as assigned.
Essential Equipment, Vehicles, Tools and/or Machinery used:
  • ROBOT with full enclosure and safety program.
  • A variety of pumping (air, electric, etc.) and mixing (Hand and powered) machines.
  • Various hand tools (Pliers, Wrench, Scrapers and Knives, Measuring devices, Clippers, Scissors, etc.)
  • Lifting devices (Lift tables, Cranes, Forklift).
  • Operate in shelling Robot area – MUST be fully trained on Robotic Safety Procedures.
  • Autoclave, ROBOT, wet steam storage tank, boiler, and related controls.
  • Reclaim wax pumps, mixers, purifiers, strainers, settlement tanks, mixing stations and delivery systems.
  • A variety of drying positive/negative pressure air movement devices.
  • Various types of moisture indicators.
Training:
  • Training is provided on the job and may be documented by Verbal, Written, or Practical Testing.
  • Fully versed on confined space and potential energy danger of steam pressure.
Experience & EducationHigh school diploma or GED. Required Skills
  • Experience and/or training are included in considerations.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, read, follow and interpret instructions on technique cards, code sheets as well as other verbal or written instructions.
  • Able to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Able to use simple to moderately complex measuring devices and fixtures.
  • Physical ability to perform the essential job functions.
