Job Description
Overview: The Investment Associate will work closely with the Chief Investment Officer and Director of Investments supporting the daily functioning of the CFR Investment Team. The Investment Team is responsible for the oversight, management, and monitoring of the endowment assets as well as advising the Investment Committee in establishing risk and return objectives and investment policy. CFR is supported by a $500 million endowment portfolio which is allocated across 20+ external money managers investing in a diverse array of asset classes and strategies including global equity, hedge funds, private equity, and real assets.
The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to):: The individual should be flexible, highly motivated, able to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction, and be a problem solver with excellent attention to detail. The principal responsibilities of this position will include, but are not limited to:
  • Coordinating with external data providers and performance reporting software to synthesize data and portfolio results for Investment Committee distribution
  • Monitoring investment managers’ portfolios and performance, maintaining records of performance drivers and portfolio exposures, as well as coordinating, participating in, and documenting regular calls or meetings with external money managers
  • Providing administrative support to the Investment Team, including scheduling, making travel arrangements, managing budgets and expenses, and preparing materials for Investment Committee and Board distribution
  • Overseeing, organizing, and prioritizing the flow of external manager communication
  • Assisting in crafting and maintaining total portfolio exposure and risk templates for internal use and Investment Committee discussion
  • Providing modeling and analytical support for asset allocation and investment policy setting
  • Supporting new manager identification, evaluation, and due diligence across multiple asset classes represented in the portfolio
  • Utilizing analytical tools and resources, such as Bloomberg and other databases, to help assess the attractiveness of global markets and investment strategies
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree with demonstrated strong academic performance required; preference for Finance, Economics, or quantitative field, but not required
  • Two to three years of related work experience
  • Proven interest in global financial markets and investments
  • Strong organizational, planning, and multitasking skills with high attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Mastery of Microsoft Excel, SharePoint, and PowerPoint; familiarity with Bloomberg and/or Solovis preferable
  • High level of comfort with quantitative data and analysis
  • Excellent research and critical thinking skills, capable of synthesizing large amounts of data and information in a clear and concise manner
  • Desire and ability to work in a collaborative and team-oriented environment, partnering with a small team
