The Inventory Control/Analytics Manager position leads inventory control and analytics for the Memphis Distribution Center. This position is responsible for planning and organizing inventory management activities for the organization, achieving operational objectives by contributing information and recommendations for strategic plans, and developing analytics tools to drive productivity at the Memphis Distribution Center. This position is also a key enabler of lean and continuous improvement in the plant. Key performance indicators for this position are inventory variance, cycle counting compliance metrics, and physical inventory exemption measures.

These functions and task will include, but not be limited to the following assignments:

  • Responsible for completing exception and generated cycle counts in timely manner in accordance with the Trane Cycle Count Program.
  • Support and lead initiatives across the Memphis facility to ensure deliverables are met in accordance to the Trane Physical Inventory Exemption Program.
  • Develop and communicate inventory management policy and procedures.
  • Direct and manage corporate governance and regulatory compliance procedures related to inventory management operations.
  • Maintain open dialogue with other management to coordinate activities and improve performance and productivity.
  • Monitor inventory levels and inventory movement using manual or computerized inventory systems.
  • Confer with other department management and staff to coordinate inventory management activities.
  • Develop analytics at the site and serve as the primary SME for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, and Productivity analytics tools.
  • Develop and drive countermeasures for underperforming key processes.
  • Develop and implement profit improvement plans and change management plans.
  • Assume leadership role on logistics service level and inventory team. This team is responsible for meeting service level and inventory objectives.
  • Responsible for executing the inventory strategy, planning of resources of inventory personnel for the Memphis facility.
  • Manage 28K sku’s of inventory contained in a warehouse space with an estimated total value of 75M dollars.
  • Responsible for setting frequency and completion of empty space audits, bin audits for both facilities.
  • Root cause major adjustments, identify/analyze trends to successfully maintain or improve Trane’s operating procedures.
  • Analysis of minor adjustments.
  • Conduct investigations into inventory management incidents in order to verify or resolve complaints.
  • Schedule, lead and attend meetings with Ops Manager’s and leadership staff at both sites as needed to address Operational issues that impact inventory accuracy and integrity of process.
  • Ensure Operations has understanding of team inventory objectives so that financial goals are met.
  • Identify and implement projects and programs resulting in continuous improvement for the Memphis facility.
  • Lead and be engaged on special projects as needed with on-site and off-site staff.
  • Proactively respond to internal and external Customer Service requests in a timely manner so that customers will not be impacted in a negative fashion.
  • Heavy Interaction with Industrial Engineers, WMS consultants, Business Analysts, Material-Supply Chain Planning, Customer Service, Parts Planning, Purchasing, Finance and Quality on a consistent basis.
  • Maintain and develop key performance metrics to measure the effectiveness of the Inventory Management Operations.
  • Assist with identifying and writing Standard Work
  • Ensure Standard Work is being adhered to and followed with success.
  • Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships and maintain them over time.
  • Hire/train inventory staff as needed or required.
  • Some travel required.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 7 years of supply chain experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the integrated functions of materials management in a distribution/manufacturing environment that has embraced lean concepts.
  • Experience with Lean and/or Six Sigma preferred
  • Experience with Alteryx and Tableau preferred
  • High volume Sku forecasting and planning preferred
  • RF Paperless Processing System knowledge preferred
  • Knowledge of Oracle and advanced planning systems experience preferred.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Excellent PC skills required including Microsoft products.
  • Must have excellent verbal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with and relate to co-workers at all levels required.
  • Must be organized, detail oriented, highly accurate and able to prioritize.
  • Above average presentation skills.
