Job Description
Overview: The Intake Specialist manages the intake process for every youth that enters the Residential Treatment Center. They will interview prospective youth, review applications for placement, coordinate with referring agency, and determine the best fit for the program and the youth. Once a determination is made, the Intake Specialist coordinates admission with the team and the referral source. Intake Specialists are the first point of contact for youth and help transition them to the rest of the team through a therapeutic warm handoff. Complete all intake paperwork. Track all referrals. Intake Therapists may hold a small caseload of up to 3- 5 clients. Work Standards
  • Act as first point of contact for youth to ensure a grounded experience and reduce trauma in entering a Residential Treatment Center
  • Complete a comprehensive psychological assessment to initiate ongoing behavioral health counseling for residents; complete the intake, admission, and assessment of new residents with approval from Clinical Director
  • Provide comprehensive orientation to the youth upon admission
  • Complete all intake paperwork
  • Always comply with HIPPA privacy regulations and maintain confidentiality
  • Track all referrals, including response time
  • Track census, admissions, and discharges
  • Actively participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the individualized treatment and behavior plans; ensure plans are developed to meet the specific needs of the youth
  • Display professionalism by collaborating with referral sources on admissions and referrals
Communication
  • Discuss openings with Clinical Director and/or Associate Executive Director
  • Provide comprehensive information to the treating therapist, case manager, direct care team, nurse, Medicaid Coordinator, and other essential team members.
  • Consult with Clinical Director on any complex cases
  • Chart all pertinent information in the youth case files/records in accordance with Agency policy and licensing standards

  • Work professionally and cohesively with the Program Director/Program Manager and Clinical Director to ensure smooth transition for youth coming into care
  • Work with Clinical Director on utilizing therapeutic interventions to assist residents in becoming acclimated to the program
  • Facilitate or co-facilitate individual, group, and/or family therapy sessions with youth and their families per assigned caseload
  • Work in collaboration with interdisciplinary and treatment teams to evaluate the medical and developmental needs of the youth
  • Respond to crisis situations in a timely manner; provide support and coaching to staff during and after crisis situations
  • Provide on-call and emergency services as needed
  • Work closely with the interdisciplinary and treatment teams, staff, and medical and non-medical providers to ensure all youth are receiving the quality of services needed to meet their individual treatment and behavior plans
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with program administration, management, the team, interdisciplinary team, and youth to ensure the program is operating effectively and efficiently and is meeting its established goals and objectives
  • Must assist in the evacuation of youth as needed due to inclement weather conditions, natural disasters, or other unforeseen occurrences

Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or closely related field
  • LCSW, LMFT, or LPC full licensure
  • Must be 21 years of age or older per licensing requirements
  • 1 years’ experience in case management experience preferably in RTC environment
  • Must have valid TX driver license and auto insurance to be designated as an authorized driver
  • Demonstrated ability to build trust and rapport with children
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong people and interpersonal skills with the ability to work and interact with diverse works of people
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends based on business need
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a Residential Treatment Center (RTC) or Behavioral Health
  • Certification in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention
  • Experience with Assessment, diagnosis, brief treatment
Physical Demands & Work Conditions
  • This position requires sitting and looking and using a computer for long periods of time
  • Position works in a child facility and has constant exposure to children
  • Lift, push, pull, move up to 50 lbs.
