OVERVIEW:

Companion Pet Partners is looking for an IT Manager / Senior Microsoft System Administrator to help us modernize, maintain, and continuously improve the technology ecosystem of our rapidly growing, geographically distributed network of veterinary hospitals.

This role will be responsible for advanced implementation, configuration, and migration functions, as well as the delegation of tasks to distributed help-desk personnel, independent IT consultants, and managed IT service providers.

This position requires strong project and personnel management skills, excellent cybersecurity acumen, and extensive experience with traditional and cloud Microsoft technologies. To succeed in this role, candidates must also possess extensive experience with technologies common to enterprise environments, such as virtualization, network architecture, and disaster recovery.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee geographically distributed teams of IT personnel and managed IT service providers
  • Manage and continuously improve centralized Microsoft 365, Azure AD and Google Workspace cloud environments
  • Manage infrastructure improvement and migration projects
  • Coordinate response to major infrastructure outages
  • Coordinate response to security incidents and alerts
  • Oversee equipment purchases and service contracts
  • Evaluate and validate new services, software, and equipment
  • Monitor systems for optimum performance and availability
  • Stay up-to-date with current technologies and technical developments
  • Manage device policies for workstations, laptops, and mobile devices
  • Manage device enrollment and onboarding procedures (Microsoft Endpoint Manager and Windows Autopilot)
  • Manage secure user access and SSO (Azure AD and Google Identity)
  • Coordinate migration of email from legacy platforms to centralized Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace environments
  • Coordinate migration of documents from legacy platforms to centralized Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace environments
  • Coordinate migration of practice management solutions from on-premise to cloud environments
  • Create, deploy and maintain PowerShell automation scripts for common problem resolution and maintenance tasks
  • Document systems and processes, track, and document ongoing changes
  • Oversee and coordinate timely system and software patching

COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 7+ years of Microsoft server, client, and cloud administration experience, preferably in an enterprise environment
  • Experience managing a distributed infrastructure with Microsoft Group Policy and Microsoft Endpoint Manager
  • Expert knowledge writing PowerShell scripts for Windows servers and workstations, Microsoft 365, and Azure AD
  • Experience with network infrastructure deployment and management
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Excellent personnel management skills

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in Computer Science or a related subject
  • Microsoft 365 Enterprise Administrator Expert certification (preferred)
  • Other applicable industry standard certifications (preferred)
