Position Summary

The O'Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center is one of 51 NCI-designated comprehensive cancer centers in the United States and is the only one in Alabama and in the Deep South region. A comprehensive designation also means UAB Medicine patients have access to leading-edge treatments or clinical trials that they may not otherwise have at local community hospitals or smaller cancer centers. For many, an NCI designation can hold the key to survival. On-campus and around Birmingham, the O'Neal Cancer Center is a significant part of our economic powerhouse. The O'Neal Cancer Center powers more than 400 scientists and physician-scientists, cares for 20,000 patients annually, and is home to more than 160 employees, plus all the physicians and clinical staff engaged in cancer patient care. Supports department information systems requirements and objectives. Consults with system users and makes software and/or hardware recommendations. Installs and/or develops customized software as required. Provides training and documentation of software. Troubleshoots, maintains, and repairs as necessary any department hardware and peripherals. May maintain department file server, i.e. back-ups, additions and deletion of users, etc.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides accurate, timely, and creative solutions to end-user computer and networking problems of moderate to complex nature to ensure end-user productivity.
  • Performs restorative and maintenance actions either remotely or at the end user's location to resolve problems, using basic troubleshooting and technical skills.
  • Responds to situations where standard procedures have failed in isolating or fixing problem equipment or software installations, moves, and configuration changes.
  • Maintains accurate information and data regarding end-user issues within the tracking system and according to policies and standards.
  • Procurement: Consults with vendors to provide appropriate solutions and equipment that are compatible with the operations of the cyclotron/radiology facility. Delivers software installs/support/administration through Domain administration, Active Directory groups, and applied group policies. Suggests Software solutions to increase efficiency within the CCTSF organization.
  • Website Build and Design: Provides administrative support for the Cancer Center main page website quick links, and conference room requests page.
  • CCTSF website: creates and designs CCTSF website. Recreate Cancer Center Conference Room Scheduling Request Forms and edit request policies.
  • CCTSF Ticket System: Configurate and deploy CCTSF TrackIT ticket system that delivers improved internal support for the organization. Ticket system/work orders streamlined through the self-service ticketing system and tracking. Automate upgraded billing process through asset management. Creates database for inventory management and handles automatic rollout of software/patching solutions. Handles Active Directory Domains
  • Under RAMLAB Domain: Applies group policies for FDA compliance (strict patch schedule and solutions). Implements drive map group policies. Maintains documentation of server systems, network shares, etc. to the extent authorized. Creates, edits, and disables user accounts. Edits and updates information upon location move, or name/number change.
  • Under CCCMED Domain: Creates, edits, and disables user accounts. Assigns computer objects to user accounts for auditing and organization purposes. Edits and updates information upon location move, or name/number change.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Hourly Pay Rate: $18.85 - $30.65


Qualifications

Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and one (1) year of related experience required. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.
