Leading and overseeing the information security budget, staffing, and contracting, you'll direct a team that handles a wide range of security issues including architectures, electronic data traffic and network access. As the CL - Information Security Officer, we'll rely on you to apply defensive functions (e.g., encryption, access control, identity management) to reduce exploitation opportunities of vulnerabilities, as well as conduct import/export reviews for acquiring cryptographic systems. You'll also apply current computer science technologies to the design, development, evaluation, and integration of computer systems and networks to maintain system security. What you bring to the table:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related specialized area or equivalent plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
  • Develops and executes security controls, defenses and countermeasures to intercept and prevent internal or external attacks or attempts to infiltrate system email, data, and web-based systems
  • Researches attempted or successful efforts to compromise systems security and designs countermeasures
  • Maintains hardware, software and network firewalls and encryption protocols
  • Administers security policies to control physical and virtual access to systems
  • Provides information to management regarding the negative impact on the system/mission caused by theft, destruction, alteration or denial of access to information and systems
  • Provides security engineering and integration services to customers
  • Shows initiative on assignments, exercises independent judgment and professionally executes projects with little direction
  • Acts independently to determine methods and procedures on new or special assignments
  • May provide work direction to other employees
  • Involved in a wide range of security issues including architectures, electronic data traffic and network access
  • Very strong knowledge of the following:
    • disaster recovery and continuity of operations plans
    • response and handling methodologies
    • resource management principles and techniques
    • server administration and systems engineering theories, concepts, and methods
    • system life cycle management principles, including software security and usability
    • information security program management and project management principles and techniques
    • network systems management principles, models, methods (e.g., end-to-end systems performance monitoring), and tools
    • security architecture concepts and enterprise architecture reference models
    • applicable business processes and operations of customer organizations
    • system software and organizational design standards, policies, and authorized approaches relating to system design
The successful Information Systems Security Officer (LINUX) must have:
  • Experience working with DoD classified IT system security configuration and processes
  • Working technical knowledge of UNIX/LINUX and Windows operating systems commands and utilities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience in government IT security standards, policies and directives
  • Proficiency in UNIX/LINUX audit analysis
  • Data Center experience
  • Microsoft Office Application experience
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Experience conducting forensic analysis on audit log data for security incidents a plus
  • Hands on Splunk application experience highly desired
  • Applicants must meet DoD 8570.1 certification requirements for IAT-II or higher
