RESPONSIBILITIES:

As part of the Early Childhood Education staff, the Infant and Toddler teacher is responsible for developing strong nurturing relationships with children, families and Adelante Mujeres staff to implement the vision and daily operations of the program. The Infant and Toddler Teacher will ensure each child’s safety, health, and development in accordance with individual needs and abilities by planning and implementing culturally appropriate learning experiences that advance the intellectual, emotional, social, and physical development of babies and toddlers. They will utilize best practices to provide appropriate services to children, and comply with Adelante Mujeres policies and procedures, Head Start Performance Standards, and policies, as well as Office of Child Care regulations for certified childcare centers. The ideal candidate will be inspired by and fully committed to both the Adelante Mujeres and Head Start vision and mission, and have a history of working with infants, toddlers and families.

  • Establishes a well-managed, child-oriented learning environment which is safe, healthy, interesting, attractive, and responsive to the social/emotional, physical, cognitive, and language development of each child
  • Provides leadership to staff and volunteers through active direction and actual involvement in the care, teaching, guidance, and training of children ensuring effective program operations
  • Maintains an open, friendly, and cooperative relationship with each child’s family
  • Promotes quality childcare services utilizing best practices for children zero to three for the benefit of children and families ensuring a program responsive to their needs
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge
  • Provides emergency services as a Mandatory First Responder
  • Provides oversight and directs the implementation and logistics of the program’s curriculum, assessments, and enrichment activities, special programs, parent home visits, conferences, and site visits
  • Supports data collection and entry, evaluation of program benchmarks and indicators, ongoing tracking, and reporting
  • Supports organization’s development and fundraising efforts
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A passionate commitment to the goals and mission of Adelante Mujeres and support for immigrant and BIPOC communities.
  • 1-year minimum experience working with children 0-3 and diverse families.
  • AA in Early Childhood Education OR Infant and Toddler CDA AND Step 8 in Oregon Registry Online.
  • Fluent in Spanish and good communication, reading and writing skills in English.
  • Ability to work with low-income Latino and diverse families
  • Intermediate computer literacy and familiarity with databases, word processing, email, and internet
  • Passionate about education, social justice, women’s empowerment, and the environment

Additional Requirements:

  • Complete Criminal Background Check under Office of Childcare
  • Possess current driver’s license and auto insurance coverage OR reliable transportation
  • Ability to travel out of town to attend workshops or trainings

SALARY & BENEFITS:

  • Salary range: $16.25 - $18.50 per hour depending on qualifications
  • Classification: Regular full-time non-exempt position for 10 months; 40 hours per week from September through late June with possibility to work on special projects or take paid time-off during the Summer
