This position is located in Elk Grove Village, IL. Work will be performed onsite, this is not a remote work position.
Seeking an Industrial Automation Mechanic with primary responsibility to perform precision assembly and test operations on automation process lines and equipment for a high-tech manufacturing company that is a global supplier to the aerospace industry for machine tools and equipment.
The Automation Mechanic is responsible for working as part of the automation team in the assembly of electrical/mechanical components, installation, and testing automated elements of the systems in a safe and consistent manner for the performances. Additionally, the mechanic will participate in the development of the automated systems, interfaces, and operational procedures.
Position will require 8-12 weeks of travel to Germany for training during the first half of 2022 as well as occasional travel to customer site for equipment installation.
Education & Experience:
High School Diploma or GED and 2-4 years of related work experience in an industrial environment.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2-4 years experience in utilizing basic hand tools and precision assembly tools such as calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, torque wrenches, gauges in an industrial environment
- Understanding of electrical/mechanical devices
- Ability to read and interpret structural and detailed blueprints/drawings
- Ability to identify and provide productive feedback and solutions when issues arise during the assembly and test phases
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
· Vocational degree/certification in related field of study
· Well-developed understanding of automation processes related to manufacturing and assembly equipment
· Basic knowledge of fabrication methods
· Basic knowledge of welding processes MIG/TIG
· Basic knowledge of machining processes and of operation of lathe and mills
· Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Possess a high degree of mechanical aptitude
· Works well in a team setting and can effectively multi-task on simultaneous projects. Must also be able to work independently and stay task-oriented
· Must be able to work in a fast-paced work environment with fixed project deadlines
Job Responsibilities
- Assembly activity utilizes a variety of shop equipment, hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment such as dial indicators, calipers, and micrometers to obtain proper build requirements
- Works from assembly drawings, worksheets, parts lists, test specifications, and other instructions, both written and oral
- Work with electrical components, mechanical assemblies, and machine controls
- Troubleshoot mechanical problems during test and field installation of automated equipment
- Test activity requires the use of pneumatic and electronic test equipment, fixtures, and tools
- Maintains dimensional accuracy on assemblies through the use of torque wrenches, fixtures, tooling, and gauging.
- Positively contributes to the teamwork environment in terms of productivity, initiative, cooperation, data collection, and attitude
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $26.00 - $34.00 per hour
