Job Description
JOB SUMMARY: Under general direction of the Cardiac /Vascular Ultrasound Department Clinical Manager, this position is responsible for performing numerous clerical tasks and for initiating intravenous (I.V.) line insertion for cardiac procedures. These tasks and duties include, but are not limited to, coordination of both internal and external department communication, supporting efficient workflows, and providing excellent customer service to patients, families, referring physicians and other external stakeholders.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Education & Training: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a structured I.V. course must be completed during orientation.
Work Experience: Minimum one (1) year experience in an office setting with general knowledge of medical terminology. Patient care oriented experience preferred.
Skills & Abilities: Visual acuity and manual dexterity are required. Ability to: a) convey effective verbal and written information; b) respond to emergency situations appropriately; c) insertion of I.V. lines in as painless a manner as possible; d) relate positively with and reassure patients while effectively projecting a positive image of the organization in support of the Service Excellence expectations; e) maintain discretion with patients; f) organize and manage time effectively setting appropriate priorities; g) make independent decisions consistent with current policies and procedures; h) adapt hours of availability to variable and changing needs of the care setting; and i) effectively function as a member of a collaborative team.
