This role is a key team member on the human capital Mergers & Acquisition team (M&A). Here you will set strategy of due diligence active and guide the Center for excellence (COE) teams in completion of function specific COE analysis in support of the acquisition.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manages the portfolio of transaction activity for a line of business
  • Brings a holistic end-to-end view for a deal, starting with due diligence up front and running all the way through the full integration of the acquisition
  • Understands the intended value creation (“strategic why”) and strategically pulls it throughout the planning and decision making for the deal lifecycle in order to maximize deal value and optimize the employee experience
  • Partners with the AE HR team, the receiving business HR team and leaders, and across the M&A ecosystem to architect the integration strategy and address the holistic set of people implications in order to set the acquisition up for success
  • Serves as the common thread throughout deal lifecycle ensuring consistent focus on the right things
  • Behind-the-scenes navigator and conductor bringing the necessary M&A rigor, tools, processes, and strategy our partners and stakeholders
  • Drives alignment on how we want to/do we want to address the deltas identified during diligence and proactively communicates deal decisions and commitments to key parties
  • Provide tailored recommendations, approaches, and templates (using our standard framework and toolkit) based on specific needs of both the deal and the business
  • Overall deal landscape tracking for a line of business and communication of landscape to appropriate partners
  • Knowledge transfer/onboarding of key resources (why are we doing the deal, what do we know, how does it impact the work we are doing, how will acquired entity (AE) fit into UHG/add value, etc.)
  • Deal support model (incl. sizing, scoping, resourcing, and resource risks)
  • Align on/set expectations on approach, needs, what’s coming, additional opportunities and decisions needed with key partners
  • Set the strategic direction of due diligence activity and guide the COE teams in completion of function specific COE analysis in support of the deal thesis
  • Accountable for diligence summary, cost model, and risk analysis – understands, communicates, and ensures alignment in the key human capital financial and legal risks of the deal
  • Assess the holistic set of people implications to enable successful integration of an acquisition
  • Integration roadmap/strategy development – bringing the right people in at the right time
  • Responsible for understanding and managing impacts to employees related to integration efforts
  • Operate in a matrixed environment, being able to engage and motivate teams (both in/out of HC) to deliver on their scope of work
  • Partners closely with a client engagement manager to execute against activities across the deal lifecycle
  • Value creation and value measurement

Required Qualifications:

  • BA in Business, Human Resources, Communications and/or equivalent experience
  • Experience working in a complex matrix environment
  • Proven experience designing and executing formal change management
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or advanced degree
  • 6+ years Human Capital
  • 6+ years M&A experience
  • Project management experience
  • M&A experience with a focus on human capital integrations
  • Proven experience navigating ambiguity and change with ease

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only : The salary range for Colorado/Connecticut/Nevada residen ts is $130,300 to $250,200. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
