Balfour Beatty in partnership with Fluor have been awarded the $1.7B I-635 LBJ East project in Dallas. Pegasus Link Constructors is a fully integrated joint venture made up of Fluor and Balfour Beatty Infrastructure, Inc. with over 17 years of experience working together. We are looking for a Survey Manager to join our team. This design-build project will improve the capacity and operational efficiency for the portion of I-635 north and east of Dallas, from east of U.S. Highway 75 to I-30.

Essential Job Functions

  • Create, manage and maintain project layout and construction data.
  • Establish and maintain standardized machine control / survey models and construction survey data for project level operations.
  • Delegate and Schedule work with the Survey Technicians.
  • Help create and implement Department Level Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Provide guidance to the field survey operations and Standard Operating Procedures for utilization of Survey Department Construction Layout Data.
  • Responsible for providing growth opportunities to Survey Techs within department.
  • Train engineers and surveyors annually in a corporate wide training program.
  • Perform calculations such as alignments, drainage, structures and roadway modeling.
  • Create machine and data collector files for the projects.
  • Perform and assist with Quality Control on data calculated within the department.
  • Carry out job duties while maintaining Balfour Beatty values.
  • And other duties as assigned by project management.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • 7 years of survey field and/or office software experience working on Heavy Highway Construction projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications and translate into survey data for layout in the field.
  • Proficient in Trimble Business Center or related software.
  • Proficient in model building for machine control.
  • Ability to access all areas of a jobsite is required for this position.
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficient.

Preferred Requirements

  • Previous Survey Manager experience for a Heavy Civils Contractor.
  • Familiar with a wide variety of Heavy Highway and Survey practices and principles.
  • Familiar with a variety of field concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Previous experience on TxDOT construction projects.
  • Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
