Job Description

Heavy Equipment Shop Technician

The Heavy Equipment Shop Technician will have the ability to performing repairs, inspections, troubleshooting and diagnosing, of all equipment sold and serviced by RoadBuilders Machinery. The Heavy Equipment Shop Technician will possess the skills to work with a high level of detail, accuracy, and efficiency documenting and performing all repairs.

Description in detail:

  • Perform heavy equipment repairs, scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting, electronic diagnostics, and factory campaigns in the shop on all equipment serviced by RoadBuilders Machinery
  • Work with other shop technicians to efficiently make repairs for quick and accurate turn around to the customer
  • Safety in all aspects of work is a requirement at RoadBuilders Machinery
  • Utilize service manuals and electronic service tools to diagnosis and repair all levels of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical repairs
  • Perform weld repairs and installation of attachment that require basic weld and torch skills
  • Must maintain daily service reports, equipment status reports, inspection reports, log clear concise pictures of repairs, and log time worked efficiently
  • Communicate clearly with fellow shop technicians and management both in person and via email and service reports
  • Increase service sales through accurate inspections and communication to shop management on needs for additional repairs
  • Daily proficient use of a company-provided personal computer and wireless hotspot. Incumbent will be trained in and must be capable of using the Roadbuilders business management software.
  • Lift weights up to 60 LBS and climb on and off machines safely
  • Ability to learn and operate Roadbuilders Business System Software

Educational/Experience Requirements:

  • Qualified candidates must have 2+ years of successful hands-on experience or equivalent technical training in Diesel Technology
  • Highschool Diploma or GED
  • Competent in MS Excel / Word / Outlook
  • Competent in efficiently operating a computer
  • Must provide your own hand and power tools required to perform work efficiently

Preferred Qualification

  • Heavy Equipment Shop Repair Experience
  • Dealership or Rental Service Experience
  • Experience with Komatsu and/or Takeuchi Equipment
  • High Level of Self-Motivation
  • Detail Oriented

Work Environment:

  • Shop environment with exposure to heat, cold, dust, dirt and noise. Lifting 60 LBS, climbing, and standing for an extended amount of time.
  • Occasional Field environment with exposure to adverse weather conditions including heat, cold, wind, rain, dust and dirt. Lifting 60 LBS, climbing, and standing for an extended amount of time.
  • Office environment. When visiting the corporate office, business professional appearance must always be maintained.
