Job Description

Position: Full-Time Lecturer (12-Month)
Effective Date: January 20, 2022 (Spring Semester) (1-Year Appointment, Renewable)
Salary Range: Commensurate with qualifications and experience

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in communication science and disorders (CSD), speech-language pathology (SLP), or speech and hearing sciences
  • Hold a current Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC- SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
  • Licensed as a speech-language pathologist in California
  • Meet ASHA’s clinical supervisor requirements: https://www.asha.org/slp/supervisionfaqs/#requirements
  • A minimum of three-year clinical experience post completion of Master’s degree
  • Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Confidence working with a variety of speech and language disorders, including developmental and acquired communication disorders
  • Experience working in early intervention settings and working with the birth-to-three age group
  • Experience working with clients/patients from diverse backgrounds
  • Experience in supervising SLP student interns with diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds
  • Experience of successfully working with populations demographically and socioeconomically similar to the CSULB student body

Duties:

  • Conduct Speech and Language assessments using a variety of standardized instruments and appropriate informal measures
  • Implement ethical and evidence-based treatment programs for clients in line with educational and clinical necessity
  • Supervise SLP graduate students’ on-campus clinical practicum
  • Teach entry-level courses in SLP undergraduate and graduate program as needed [Mode of instruction may include in-person, hybrid, online, and/or any combination thereof.]
  • Collaborate with the faculty, staff, and other stakeholders to assure successful growth in total clients and goal achievement around student learning outcomes
