About This Role

The Pharmaceuticals Operations and Technology (PO&T) Division within Biogen started on a journey of implementing a divisional level Business Process Management (BPM) capability to streamline and standardize our operations and progress our lean journey. We are seeking an energetic, experienced, and visionary leader to accelerate this journey and realize the benefits for PO&T in these exciting times.

As the Head of Business Process Management, the individual will be responsible for defining and driving the Process Management Strategy for PO&T, including both leadership and oversight of the Process Owner Network (PON) and driving continuous process improvement activities (a focus on speed, cost improvements, and quality). The role owns and evolves the maturity of PO&T’s process management strategy (both GxP and key business processes), working cross-functionally to improve and enhance the effectiveness of our processes to support how we work and the interconnectivity of those processes.

*The incumbent can be located in either our RTP, NC or Cambridge, MA office*

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and implement an overall PO&T strategy for the BPM journey based on process content framework and business priorities
  • Act as a cultural leader and change agent within PO&T, encouraging and mentoring others in adoption of process ownership and process excellence methodologies
  • Develop and implement an end to end process hierarchy and framework within PO&T
  • Implement standards to create, manage and control process maps as key Biogen business assets
  • Lead process identification and definition efforts in PO&T to ensure end-to-end process mapping and identification of potential failure points and risks
  • Develop and execute strategy, oversight, governance, and evolution of the PO&T Process Owner Network (PON) and systems that support it
  • Lead the deployment of myBPM (ARIS) system for BPM across PO&T
  • Implement and ensure adherence to Business Process Management Standards (BPMS) and BPMS Business Process Management Notation (BPMN)
  • Lead cross-functional process improvement activities to address major deficiencies / gaps
  • Work with business to define and manage process KPIs and communicate actual performance and initiatives driving improvement to defined KPIs
  • Monitor the BPM Capability installation and realization progress using key indicators.

Qualifications


Required Skills

  • 10-15 years experience, with 8+ years in pharmaceutical, healthcare, or other regulated industry with significant business process management experience
  • Strong program management experience developing and deploying a Lean, Continuous Improvement program within a company or division
    • Strong preference for someone who leads a Business Process Management effort with realized benefits
  • Strong leadership skills including but not limited to influence skills and matrix leadership
  • Six Sigma/Lean Certification
  • Bachelor's Degree in any Engineering or Business Discipline (Masters Degree preferred)
