Hatchery Manager

Job Summary – The Hatchery Manager ensures all aspects of the Production Goals of the Hatchery are met each day. This would include working with the Assistant Manager on Supervision of associates, scheduling duties and job assignments.

Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of the hatchery. This includes daily schedules for employees in both departments.
• Responsible for the control of egg inventory of the hatchery at all times.
• Assist in egg procurement and set schedules, transfer crews, production and maintenance throughout the facility.
• Serve as back up to the Assistant Hatchery manager in maintaining KRONOS time for all associates.
• Oversee the hiring, scheduling, disciplinary procedures, etc for the hatchery.
• Promote and maintain a safe work environment, conduct safety training and safety meetings as required.
• Responsible for the ACWB program in the hatchery to include the documentation recorded.
• Assist in other departments of the hatchery as needed to cover vacations, leaves, etc.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Train the Assistant Manager to perform duties as the Manager for vacations, etc.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Supervisory skills – ability to manage a group of 30 - 40 personnel in a work unit who perform the same and/or interrelated tasks and activities.
• Good management people skills.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Be Neat and organized with all paperwork.
• Basic computer skills; including working knowledge of Microsoft Office and excel programs.

Education & Experience:

• 4-year degree with Agricultural Related Curriculum, preferred
• 5 years hatchery of live production experience, preferred
• Previous Supervisory experience preferred.

Physical Demands

• Occasionally will be required to step in and work in the hatchery to assist in the hatching process at times when the hatchery is short on help.
