We are excited to offer this opportunity to join our professional team of Instructors at our Columbus Learning Center. We pride ourselves on our professional reputation for excellent flight safety training within the general aviation industry and invite you to join us.

The Ground Simulator Instructor is responsible for the accomplishment of pilot ground school training and ground-based simulator training conducted for Customers receiving Initial, Recurrent or generic training courses and measures the training progress of Customer(s), objectively and subjectively, within the established curriculum. We have a comprehensive training program for the core role of Instructor with additional variations for different programs.

Experience & Certifications required:


To join the FlightSafety team as a pilot instructor and deliver ground/simulator training, you must meet the following criteria:

  • An unrestricted ATP certificate, or an ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License
  • Have at least 1,500 hours total time. Note: Currency in ratings is not required.


If you don’t hold an ATP, you must meet the requirements of:

  • 14 CFR part 61.153
  • 14 CFR part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation


It is also helpful, but not essential, for you to have;

  • previous instructional experience
  • previous FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training experience
  • 2,500 hours of total flight time


We do not require a current medical certificate for these roles.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following duties are essential to the successful and satisfactory performance of this job. Other duties may be assigned.

  • The Ground/Simulator Instructor is responsible for the accomplishment of pilot ground school training and ground-based simulator training conducted for Clients receiving Initial, Recurrent or generic training courses and objectively measures the training progress of Clients within the established curriculum.
  • Maintain Instructor qualification in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Deliver training to FlightSafety International clients in accordance with FlightSafety International’s Professional Instructor Handbook.
  • Develop, utilize, maintain and revise lesson plans and Pilot Training publications in accordance with FlightSafety International’s Professional Instructor Handbook when applicable.
  • Complete and revise course syllabi and Expanded Instructor Action Guides (EIAGs) as delegated.
  • Keep current all certificates, ratings and designations required to perform duties as an Instructor.
  • Deliver training to FlightSafety International Clients in accordance with FlightSafety International’s Professional Instructor Handbook.
  • Perform administrative and recordkeeping duties relative to training. Report any Client training concerns to the Director of Training (DOT).
  • Interact with Simulator technicians concerning all Simulator functions and malfunctions during training and document accordingly.
  • Adhere to a required work schedule, including prompt and regular attendance.
