Our office in Des Moines, Iowa is looking for an Entry to Mid-Level Hydrogeologist/ Engineer/ Scientist to join our growing team. This role will vary with the successful applicant’s experience and interest; potential areas include environmental characterization and remediation, due diligence, environmental permitting, solid waste, and industrial hygiene. Activities to include support of Emergency Response associated with train derailments, pipelines, or other response needs throughout the Midwest.

Working with the Environmental team, this position offers good variety of work and will see you involved in:

• Providing technical and project management services to our existing and future clients on a variety of projects
• Developing and executing scopes of work, budgets, and schedule
• Completing both office- and field-related responsibilities
• Interfacing with internal and external clients
• Coordination with and management of contractors and service providers
• Preparation and review of reports
• Participation in a proactive safety culture and a culture of continuous improvement

What successful candidates will bring to the team:

• B.S. degree in geology/hydrogeology, environmental science, engineering, or related field; M.S. degree, preferred.
• 0 to 5 years of relevant, progressive experience including a mix of field, data evaluation and interpretation, and technical report writing
• Working knowledge of methods and procedures for site characterization, hydrogeological analysis, and remediation of contaminants in soil, soil vapor, indoor air, and groundwater
• Familiarity and experience with State of Iowa rules, NCP, RCRA, and CERCLA are a plus. Experience in related service areas will also be considered
• Engineers should have the ability to obtain an Iowa P.E. license
• Self-starter, flexible team player, willing/able to work on a wide variety of tasks
• Strong technical writing and verbal presentation skills
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Strong project and client management skills
• Sound decision making skills
• Strong problem-solving abilities and aptitude
• Positive attitude; good interpersonal and communication skills
• Interest in continuing professional development
• Willingness to travel, including extended overnights, to project sites in the Midwest
• Travel and field work is expected to be 75% of the time
• Relocation is negotiable
• The role requires safe driving skills, ability to work in the field under varied weather conditions, and ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.

40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification and Knowledge of the local/Midwest market is a plus!
