Job Description
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Finance or related field with emphasis on statistical and analytical skills.
  • 3+ years' experience in a role requiring application of analytic skills in a business analyst, data analyst or statistical analyst role
  • Demonstrated proficiency in relational databases (Redshift, RDS, SQL Server, MySQL, etc.) and SQL for querying and extracting data.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, Java, R, etc.) for data gathering, data cleansing and statistical analysis.
  • Expertise in data visualization software (QuickSight, Tableau, PowerBI, QlikView, etc.) for effective data presentation.
  • Proven experience with the systems/tools utilized for business planning and reporting. Expert level in Excel (including Pivot Tables, array functions, Power Pivots, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to help drive data-based decision making for strategy and planning processes, procedures and policies; and cross functional collaboration skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of presenting to senior management.

Work hard, have fun, and make history at Amazon Web Services! The AWS Data Center Planning (DCP) Team is searching for a passionate and talented Business Analyst to support the global data center procurement and delivery planning program.

As Business Planning Analyst, this role will be the subject matter expert to fulfil data-driven decision-making demands, querying and extracting large datasets and effectively using the accompanying tools and programming languages needed to work with them. This is a hands-on position; the ideal candidate must be willing to “roll up their sleeves’ and work directly with large and complex datasets. We seek for a candidate who can create simple, scalable solutions to difficult problems. This role will continuously evolve business reporting, conduct data analysis, build self-service reporting and analytical tools, and deliver business insights in an environment of rapid growth and increasing complexity. Ideal candidate must have good communication and project management skills, be customer obsessed and able to communicate complex business insights; both verbally and in writing; in a clear and precise manner.

The ideal candidate must earn trust through performance and relationship building, think strategically and analytically about business challenges and have experience in program management or planning. The candidate will be a self-starter with a bias towards independent problem solving, a passion for identifying and eliminating bottlenecks, and has the foresight to anticipate business needs, make tradeoffs, and balance business dynamics despite constraints.

Key job responsibilities
  • Enable effective decision making by retrieving and aggregating data from multiple sources and compiling it into a digestible and actionable format
  • Analyze historical and segmentation data to identify trends and insights
  • Participate in strategic and tactical planning discussions
  • Design, develop and maintain scaled, automated, user-friendly systems, reports, dashboards, etc. that will support our business needs.

  • Advance SQL proficiency - experience writing complex SQL statements and ability to manipulate a massive amount of data, creating dashboards/on demand reports
  • 2+ years of experience with business intelligence and data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau)
  • 2+ years of experience with a modern programming language (e.g., Ruby, Python, etc.)
