Job Description

Do you have a passion and love for all things brand marketing and social media? We are currently looking for a Global Brand Marketing & Social Media Director to join our Global Brand Marketing team. This is a critical central role in driving overall global brand strategy for Groupon, overseeing and leading development of a global social media strategy & team, as well as leading a global brand relaunch.

This broad role requires excellent knowledge and principles of strategic brand marketing, integrated campaign and media expertise, partner management experience and overall a superior level of leadership, agility and positive energy. This role reports into VP of Brand, Melanie Hellenga.

This candidate must:

You'll spend time on the following:

  • Leading the global brand strategy efforts for Groupon, including the 2021 Brand Relaunch.

  • Effectively leading and building partnerships across the organization to communicate learnings, recommendations and plans to key senior stakeholders across the business.

  • Making regular recommendations based on cultural input, data and insights, working closely with the Global Director of Insights and cross functional teams internally & externally.

  • Owning global brand relaunch strategy and relaunch roadmap execution including but not limited to strategic presentations, partner briefings, creative campaign and media execution to reposition Groupon as the fun local experiences destination

  • Partnering with internal stakeholders such as PR, Creative Team, Social Responsibility, Performance Marketing, Merchandising, Product, Email, Revenue Management, Finance, Merchant Marketing, Sales, Employer Brand, etc on rollout of brand relaunch across all departments to coordinate timing, positioning, markets, budgets, media plan, channel support and KPIs.

  • Leading media and creative agency strategic direction and day to day relationship as well as external partners such as Google/YT

  • Meeting with internal stakeholders to regularly ensure brand guidelines are met and to address future opportunities, including brand partnerships, site imagery and copy and Sales/Supply

  • Overseeing the Global Social Media Strategy & Team Operations including but not limited to:

    • Supporting the Sr. Global Social Strategist in developing the Global Social Playbook, global content strategy and KPI performance.

    • Evolving the Global Social Team to a thriving content engine, including expanding to new channels, UGC pipelines, and new partnerships including influencers.

    • Staying at the forefront of content trends and developments regarding social media platforms and activations, identifying potential commercial and creative opportunities for Groupon

    • Global Team Operations

      • Partnering with Customer Service to drive best-in-class CS experience on social.

      • Overseeing team needs for tools, knowledge of Sprinklr a plus

  • Leading and managing a team of 3+ direct reports plus internal and external stakeholders.

We're excited about you if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 12+ years of relevant work experience

  • Experience leading the strategy for and managing an integrated marketing, agency or brand team, managing a team of at least 3+

  • Experience using data, insights, business intelligence and cultural trends to drive meaningful brand communications and executions to customers

  • Experience running paid media campaigns, goal setting and measurement across integrated media platforms

  • 10+ years of experience working with consumer brands on proactive campaigns

  • At least 8+ years leading results driven integrated campaigns for consumer brands.

  • International experience
