Who we are: Ethical Culture Fieldston School is a progressive PreK-12 independent school that has been serving students from throughout New York City and the surrounding suburbs since 1878. ECFS offers a rich curriculum in the arts, sciences, and humanities. A co-ed, nonsectarian school, it serves a diverse community of about 1,700 students on two campuses - one in the Riverdale section of the Bronx and the other in Manhattan.

FIeldston Future Leaders Camp: The Fieldston Summer Camps have created valuable summer experiences for both campers and instructors! We are a six-week summer day camp for rising PreK through 8th-grade children. Both morning and afternoon sessions specifically cater to each camper’s interests. Fieldston Future Leaders Camp is a nurturing and safe environment filled with a fun and exciting way of learning. We have a strong emphasis on science, technology, engineering, math, and design-based programming that is experiential and project-based. All of our programs cater to leadership development, confidence building, and creativity because we recognize that each child has the potential to make an impact on the world.

- Support youth development through camp activities.
- Support camp instructors.
- Effectively develop a positive rapport with participants.
- Maintain safety and confidentiality.
- Supervise campers during program hours to ensure camper safety.
- Development positive relationships with peers and participants.
- Motivate campers with effective communication.
- Must know and adhere to site specific safety standards.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment and notify the supervisor of any hazardous issues.
- Participate in professional development, including pre-program training.
- Ability to take constructive criticism.
- Must attend staff meetings as assigned.
- Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications for Counselors:
- A Bachelor’s Degree or some college level coursework.
- Must have experience working with elementary or middle school age students.
- Counselor experience strongly preferred.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Respect for diversity.
- Ability to inspire and motivate.
- CPR/First Aid Certifications or the ability to obtain one.
- Flexible team player, with the ability, and willingness to work with adolescents, staff, and families.
- Ability to be a mentor and be a resource to campers, staff, families and embrace/foster cultural inclusiveness.
- Inspire through creativity and able to bring these talents to the camp.
Qualifications for Junior Counselors:
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Must have some experience working with elementary or middle School age students.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Respect for diversity.
- Ability to inspire and motivate.
- CPR/First Aid Certifications or the ability to obtain one.
- Flexible team player, with the ability, and willingness to work with adolescents, staff, and families.
