Job Description
Responsibilities

As the Fund Manager for the Division of Medicine Pediatrics Research, you will provide budgetary and financial administration to Principal Investigators for all facets of pre-award development and post-award administration to include Federal, State, private, and clinical research contracts and grants with approximately $20 million dollars in annual appropriations. Duties will include; but not limited to:
  • Facilitate the preparation of grant proposals and putting together budgets for upcoming proposals.
  • Assess potential funding opportunities with individual or joint faculty.
  • Coordinate grant application submission.
  • Provide financial analysis and long-range planning for all awards, to include faculty salaries, staff salaries, and project related expenses such as travel, subcontracts, and other project materials.
  • Oversee operations of post-award activation and administration.
  • Review and recommend new administrative organizational policies and procedures to improve awards administration and overdraft minimization.
  • Develop systemized accounting operations for division.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise fiscal managers, including division fund manager, division purchasing assistant, and satellite office financial specialists.
  • Train and supervise pre-award fund manager to ensure that correct policies are followed and documents are submitted in a timely manner.
  • Serve as divisional resource in areas of sponsored research and fund management.
Qualifications

Required:
  • Demonstrated skill in financial analysis, planning, preparation, and administration of a budget with multiple complex funding sources.
  • Demonstrated experience in post-award research administration, including fund close-out.
  • Skill in using various resources to research funding opportunities specific to individual investigators’ interests.
  • Demonstrated ability in supervising employees, including selection, training, work review, evaluation, and discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in interpretation and hands-on application of accounting, budgetary, and auditing principles and practices in a University or non-profit environment.
  • Demonstrated skill in preparing short and long term budget projections and analyzing financial reports.
  • Working knowledge of University, NIH, and other major awarding agencies’ grants restrictions and requirements.
  • General knowledge of University personnel, payroll, purchasing and travel procedures and policies.
  • Familiarity with human subject and animal subject and IRB policies and procedures.
  • Skill in programmatic evaluation to develop and maintain information systems as they relate to extramural awards and proposals, personnel, financial and organizational needs.
