Job Description

Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Food Service Director seats patrons, takes food orders, delivers prepared foods, set/resets tables and cleans, maintains service efficiency to ensure resident and guest satisfaction.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receives assigned service area from supervisor at start of shift
  • Seats patrons, provides menu, table service and beverage in order to serve the patron
  • Takes food orders from patrons in order to relay order to food production staff for preparation
  • Delivers prepared food to patron at table
  • Maintains cleanliness and sanitation at the front of the house including all tables, chairs, floors and counters
  • Restocks dining room with china, silverware, glassware, utensils and condiments and maintain adequate supplies in the workstations when dining room is opened
  • Prepares beverages required for service including tea, soft drinks, milk, juice and coffee
  • Greet residents and guests as appropriate after they are seated in assigned area. Serve beverage and meal when appropriate. Refill glasses as needed
  • Communicate with supervisor and wait staff to maintain service efficiency and ensure resident and guest satisfaction
  • Remove dirty dishes, silverware and glassware from guest tables between rounds and returning same to proper area for cleaning
  • Assist other wait staff serving tables during rush periods
  • May set up, stock, refill, breakdown and clean buffet during buffet dining times
  • Complete secondary assignments from supervisor, i.e. dishwashing, pot washing, portioning salad dressings, cleaning beverage station and other tasks as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience

Three months experience as a waiter or waitress preferred.

  • Organizing and coordinating skills and an eye for details
  • Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies
  • Knowledge of food presentation methods, menu items, food and drink service
  • Ability to work well and remain calm under pressure, quick and efficient, reliable and punctual
  • Able to deal with complaints

Working Conditions

Working in clean conditions with occasional exposure to unusual elements such as cooking odors, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and or loud noises

  • Moderate physical activity
  • Requires handling of average weight objects up to 30 pounds
  • Standing or walking for more than four (4) hours per day

Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions
