Job Description

The Center Associate delivers world-class customer service to all retail customers by receiving and processing packages for courier shipment and operating copiers, fax machines, binding equipment, laminating machines, and point-of-sale devices. The Associate expertly advises our valued customers by providing accurate information on our array of products, services, and best-value options and exhibits confidence by knowing best practices related to the industry.

The ideal candidate has previous retail sales experience, strong computer and internet skills, a high school diploma or GED, a friendly and genuinely helpful demeanor, and a professional appearance. He or she must be a fast learner who makes an effort to learn all aspects of the business in the shortest possible time. We are looking for long term employees who are looking to grow and stay within the company. This position will be eligible for all employee incentive programs and/or bonus programs that are offered by management throughout the year. In addition, employees will receive regular review to determine raises and/or promotions. The Medical Center Parkway The UPS Store location is growing rapidly and offers great growth potential.

This position qualifies for a hiring/retention bonus for qualified candidates that are chosen for the position.

Previous The UPS Store experience not required as the right candidates will be fully trained, however, candidates with prior employment experience in a retail packaging/shipping center, print shop, FedEx Office, Staples/OfficeMax or Office Depot Print Center or The UPS Store are HIGHLY encouraged to apply.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Understands and fulfills the needs of walk-in customers and telephone/email inquiries
  • Communicates effectively and continuously practices good listening with customers, co-workers, vendors, and leadership
  • Empathizes and manages demanding, impatient, and/or frustrated customers to turn a stressful event into a positive experience
  • Takes ownership of customers’ packing, shipping, and/or print problems and offers viable solutions
  • Packages shipments for safe arrival, including assembling stock boxes, building custom boxes, and properly cushioning contents
  • Manages the logistics of small to medium projects, follows through to completion, and updates all parties as needed
  • Operates all equipment, software, and devices in an expert fashion and is willing to teach others
  • Frequently multi-tasks while maintaining extreme attention to detail and high quality control
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and safe working environment
  • May open and/or close the store and perform end-of-day accounting, etc.
  • Takes action to learn NEW products, services, alternative solutions, and industry trends as well as occasionally reviewing/retraining on lesser used services
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Completes tasks independently in a quick turn environment
  • Frequently multi-tasks while maintaining extreme attention to detail and high quality control
  • Helps with other Center functions as needed, such as faxing, copying, laminating, and binding
  • Interprets a variety of instructions provided in written or verbal form
  • Helps customers with expert boxing and packaging, selling the appropriate products to ship materials safely and efficiently
  • Provides prompt, efficient shipping expertise


QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Good communication and people skills
  • Strong analytical and math skills
  • Able to work and complete tasks independently in a quick turn environment
  • High energy level
  • Prompt, reliable, and responsible
  • Must have valid drivers license and vehicle to make local pickups and errands as needed
  • One year of customer service experience required (more preferred)
  • Neat, clean, and professional appearance
