Medical Receptionist

LifeStance Heath is an organization focusing on outpatient mental health services. This position is for our company-wide float pool and will require being able to travel to identified LifeStance locations as needed.

We are looking for adaptable and flexible applicants, as schedules are subject to change. We operate off a rotating scheduling system with flexible hours between 7:30am and 8:15pm Monday through Friday and Saturdays between 7:30am and 4:00pm.

Job Description:

The Medical Receptionist will work with a team to provide patient and provider support. The Medical Receptionist will work both the front and back office to ensure day to day operations and goals are met efficiently.

Medical Receptionists are responsible for completing daily tasks that maintain the efficient operations of the office and support the daily needs of Life Stance physicians, clinicians, and patients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Proven customer service experience working as a receptionist in a clinical setting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including experience communicating in a professional, pleasant, and courteous manner and providing excellent customer service.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical records management and electronic medical record systems (EHR).
  • Experience using computerized patient scheduling systems and for information retrieval including patient prescription and service fee information, data entry, etc.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of health information and medical terminology.
  • Assists patients by performing appointment check-in processes and scheduling appointments.
  • Collect co-payments, sets up payment plans, identifies and explains balances to patients, and follow procedures for posting monies to patient accounts.
  • Provide new patients with appropriate paperwork, explain company policies, and ensure all necessary signatures and documentation are acquired before initial evaluation appointments.
  • Respond to all patient, provider, and third party needs by answering general questions and responding to requests for assistance.
  • Help maintain efficient daily office operations by successfully completing daily assigned tasks and projects.
  • Contacts pharmacies and insurances to process requests for prescriptions, prior-authorizations and/or lab requests.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure HIPAA privacy practices are being upheld constantly.
  • Verifies and updates patient insurances by contacting insurance companies when needed to obtain benefits/eligibility and updating patient accounts with the Billing Department.
  • Flexibility to work in different areas with changing tasks, priorities, and interruptions. Ability to work under pressure calmly and efficiently, coping with variable workloads, and keeping track of many responsibilities simultaneously.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience with customer service, patient care or in an office setting
  • Knowledge of insurances and experience in the Healthcare and/or Mental Health field (preferred)
  • Customer Service Skills: 1-3 years
  • Healthcare or Insurance Knowledge: 1-3 years

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour

  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)
