Front End Web Developer

Reporting to the Graphics & Web Manager, the Front-End Web Developer will work closely with the Graphics & Web Manager and Marketing Team on developing, maintaining, and enhancing Advantus-owned eCommerce web sites coded in HTML/CSS/Liquid predominantly on the Shopify platform, and also non-eCommerce sites on Wordpress.

The ideal candidate has 3-5 years of experience with web design and user experience (UX) methods, as well as hands-on experiencing coding in HTML, CSS, Liquid, JavaScript, and/or PHP.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, customize, and enhance both internally and externally hosted web sites.
• Ensure all web properties are responsive and comply with WCAG accessibility standards.
• Work with marketing, IT and customer service on inventory management and fulfillment integration when needed.
• Provide production-level updates to current eCommerce and static websites as requested by Advantus department stakeholders.
• Daily review and collaboration with Graphics & Web Manager to ensure workloads and efforts are focused on strategy.
• Manage projects using Trello for project management and Toggl for time tracking.
• Customize and optimize Shopify-hosted eCommerce sites in an effort to drive improved sales and web traffic.
• Install, configure, and customize Shopify-specific applications.
• Consume and create reports from Google Analytics data and drive meaningful, data-based UX changes across all customer-facing web properties.
• Create Email Marketing campaigns using an ESP platform like Campaign Monitor, Constant Contact or similar
• Complete administrative tasks relating to the company’s web properties to include expense tracking, domain registrations, SSL certificate management, hosting management, DNS updates, and redirects
• Respond to requests in a professional, courteous manner, providing a “can-do” customer-centric disposition.

Requirements

• Web Design, Computer Science, Digital Marketing, Graphic Design or equivalent degree, or 4+ years industry experience.
• 1-3 years of front-end web development experience using some combination of HTML, CSS, Liquid, JavaScript or PHP
• 1-3 years of graphic design experience using Adobe Photoshop and/or Adobe Illustrator.
• Experience creating responsive web sites outside of a WYSIWYG editor.
• Experience maintaining websites to the WCAG 2.1 standard.
• Experience with hosting management, DNS and domain registrars (GoDaddy, NetworkSolutions, etc.)
• Experience with Google Analytics (Google DataStudio a plus)
• Experience with the Shopify ecosystem.
• Experience with an email service (ESP) platform like Campaign Monitor or Constant Contact.
• Strong understanding of search engine optimization (SEO) best practices.
