Job Description
Description:

Forklift Technician Job Purpose: As a member of the facilities team, the individual is responsible to diagnose, adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical equipment such as forklifts, boom scissor lifts or other such equipment.

Forklift Technician Job Duties:

  • Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects.
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs, using engine diagnostic equipment such as computerized test equipment and calibration devices.
  • Repair, rewire, and troubleshoot electrical systems.
  • Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.
  • Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.
  • Assemble gear systems, and align frames and gears.
  • Detects and reports broken or unserviceable forklift or other such equipment to the Facilities Service Manager.
  • Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications.
  • Examine parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges.
  • Weld or solder broken parts and structural members, using electric or gas welders and soldering tools.
  • Research, order, and maintain parts inventory for services and repairs.
  • Fit bearings to adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
  • Schedule maintenance for industrial machines and equipment, and keep equipment service records (electronically).
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
. Requirements:

Education / Training:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • OSHA 10 Certified Preferred
  • General Safety Practices
  • Lock out / Tag out
  • Forklift and Scissor lift safety

Skills / Qualifications:

  • 1 - 3 Years Experience
  • Industrial Experience Helpful

Travel Required

  • Low (0 - 10%)

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time
  • Capable of lifting 50 pounds
