Job Description

Valard USA is a premier utility contractor and part of the Quanta Group, the largest electrical power contractor in North America. Valard has full-service capabilities for transmission, distribution, substations, foundations, telecommunications, and renewable energy. Valard is a full-service EPC+ utility contractor with almost four decades of experience, successfully completing projects across Canada.


Valard Construction is seeking a Foreman Journeyman linemen with rubber glove distribution experience willing to work around Spartanburg, SC.


Requirements

  • Safety
  • Lead and conduct morning tailboard with entire crew present
  • Ensure entire crew signs off and understands the content of the tailboard discussed
  • Enforce safety compliance, including but not limited to safety glasses, steel toe boots, high visibility clothing, face guards, etc.
  • Assess external factors such as the weather and determine appropriate work plan
  • Communicate with construction manager safety concerns, potential hazards and other issues
  • Adhere to and enforce all company specific and industry specific safety regulations
  • Lead safety action plan in the event of an incident, completing incident reports

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Powerline Technician Journeyman Certificate (Red Seal would be considered a definite asset)
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in stringing works of various voltages and bundle configurations.
  • Clean drivers abstract (License with airbrake endorsement would be considered a definite asset.)
  • Fall Arrest
  • Rubber Glover Experience

  • Ability to lead and direct others
  • Ability to mentor and teach other Powerline Technicians
  • Knowledge of trade safely practices, procedures and the safety requirements outlined in Company’s Health and Safety policies and those outlined by our clients on specific projects.
  • Have knowledge and expertise in the areas of construction, maintenance and repair of both distribution and transmission power systems, coupled with the ability to follow instructions and procedures.
