Fishery Accountant

King Cove, Alaska

Peter Pan Seafood Company, LLC , a newly formed Company in the Alaskan Seafood industry is looking for individuals interested in getting in on the ground floor of an employee friendly organization. We will work with our team members to be the safest, highest quality, lowest cost producer and the employer of choice in the Alaska Seafood industry.

We are seeking a team-oriented individual to work with the staff and local fishing fleet to maintain fisherman accounts and oversee general accounting operations by controlling and verifying financial transactions. The right individual will be well versed in generally accepted accounting principles and financial reporting along with the associated disclosures, have attention to detail and good customer service skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain fisherman accounts, journal entries & fish pay and reconcile with other locations;
  • Fish tax reconciliation with KC Head Accountant and KC Office Manager;
  • Fish ticket entry; fish ticket landings for Pollock, P Cod, IFQ Groundfish and Crab.
  • Maintain and reconcile fisherman Stockroom/Store sales journals
  • Maintain bait purchase journals
  • GL account maintenance and reconciliation for fleet accounts
  • Cross train and execute office coverage as requested

Skills & Experience:

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and skill in working in a diverse work environment.
  • Excellent computer skills and skill in using Microsoft office suite.
  • Demonstrated outstanding organization skills
  • Demonstrated experience in working varied work hours.
  • Demonstrated record of completing tasks dependably, accurately and with high quality.
  • Demonstrated record of reliably meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience in willingly switching roles to help with priorities.
  • Minimum 2 years of accounting and finance or the equivalent. Fishery accounting experience a plus.
  • Skilled in working well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be willing to live and work in confined quarters. Previous experience doing so preferred.
  • Experience working in remote Alaska highly preferred

  • Pass a background check and pre-employment and random drug tests
