Position Summary:

Maintain regulatory compliance/documentation for all Fire/Life Safety in accordance with all federal and state regulations and the National Fire Protection Association codes for all properties located across the United States.


I. Position Responsibilities: Essential

  • Oversees 3rd party inspection of all property locations and building structures for fire hazards and conformance with County fire codes.
  • Interprets various laws, ordinances, and regulations in enforcing safety regulations and fire prevention codes in accordance with national, state and county standards.
  • Advises and instructs General Managers and Regional Operations Manager in fire prevention methods in the removal of fire hazards, and makes recommendations for reducing potential hazards.
  • Reports violations of fire safety regulations and establishes safety standards to appropriate leadership and prepares written notices for follow-up.
  • Receives, responds to and investigates common complaints regarding fire code violation; provides direction to comply.
  • Maintains current knowledge of trends and developments in the fire/life safety field for application to functional areas of responsibility.
  • Conducts pre-construction inspections on new properties to ensure fire and life safety codes compliance in the final construction.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

II. Essential Skills/Credentials/Experience/Education

  • High School diploma or GED; supplemented by three years’ experience in fire prevention and suppression functions, two of which shall be at the Fire Inspector Technician level or equivalent.
  • Certified Fire Inspector is strongly preferred but not required.

III. Mental and Physical Demands

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the essential functions of this job, the incumbent is frequently required to lift, move or carry objects over 50 pounds; ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles; utilize feet and legs or hands and arms; maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, or navigating narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces; bend body downward and forward by bending spine and legs; move about on hands and knees or hands and feet; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects; and to reach with hands and arms.

Mental and Physical Demands Continued:

  • While performing the essential functions of this position the employee is occasionally exposed to fire, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic substances, excessive noise, temperature extremes, and dampness/humidity. While performing the essential functions of this job, the incumbent is occasionally exposed to possible bodily injury from falling from high places; exposed electrical currents; confrontational persons; and moving mechanical parts of equipment, tools, and machinery

Travel Demands:

  • Must be able to travel with prior short notice given. Approximately 25 % overnight travel required; flying and/or driving to properties located across the US.
