Job Description


As a valued colleague on our team, you will assist with supporting the team in applying mathematical models, advanced tools or techniques (such as SAS, Python, and R), and financial industry knowledge to business or financial data, including model results. Your efforts will enable the team to analyze or report on business performance, solve business questions, or inform business decisions. Work may include developing models or prototypes to achieve these goals, but is not the core focus in the role.

THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE

The Financial Engineer - Associate role will assist in supporting one or more key functions within the Finance Business Analytics area including estimation of Single & Multifamily Loss Allowance, Credit and Home Price Forecasting, and Asset Fair Valuation. Responsibilities may include:

  • Regularly participating in the execution of financial models and applications in support of key corporate deliverables.
  • Examining and evaluating results to ensure accuracy and determine key drivers of change.
  • Applying research best practices to support the development and ongoing improvement of models, forecasts, and valuation methods.
  • Partnering with internal business, modeling, and technical teams to build new tools or enhance existing applications.
  • Supporting the interpretation and explication of results to various audiences including senior management, regulators, industry partners, and internal customers.
  • Performing analyses that provide valuable information to internal or external decision makers when setting company policies, developing business products, and improving the analytic assets of the company.

Qualifications


THE EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO THE TEAM


Desired Experiences and Business Skills

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent in Finance, Economics, Mathematics or Statistics
  • 2 years of relevant analytic experience
  • Practical or academic experience in mortgage, fixed income finance or data science
  • Experience working in a financially regulated company
  • Experience in financial analysis, modeling, or forecasting
  • Solid written and verbal communication

Technical Skills

  • Analytic Software (e.g., R, Python, SQL)
  • Cloud Computing
  • Data Analytics and Data Mining
  • Data Visualization (e.g., Tableau)
  • Report Writing
  • Microsoft Office (Predominantly Excel & PowerPoint)
