Position Summary

Position Summary

The Finals Supervisor will be responsible for leading quality engineers, inspectors, and technicians to support all quality functions related to manufacturing. This includes both actual quality engineering and day to day management of the quality team.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise quality inspection and quality engineering teams by setting priorities and assigning work to support the needs of the business.
  • Interview, train, evaluate performance, counsel, and manage staffing to maintain a flexible, efficient and well-motivated team.
  • Oversee audit preparation for both customers and accrediting agencies (Nadcap/AS9100)
  • Develop and maintain Quality systems with the customer and manufacturing to ensure delivery of quality products
  • Drive cost improvement and productivity initiatives throughout the Quality Assurance and inspection functions
  • Work with engineering and operations to identify root cause for internal and external non-conformance
  • Ensure a high level of internal and external customer service including customer issues and complaints relating to quality
  • Responsible for review of customer drawings, specifications, etc. to identify customer quality requirements
  • Quality investigations as required to identify and eliminate scrap/rework causes and customer issues
  • Create, implement and provide training on Quality procedures.
  • Initiate Corrective Actions and verify robustness of responses.
  • Provide guidance to engineering and operational leadership on quality-related issues and requirements.
  • Maintain good customer, auditor and team relationships with tact and diplomacy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Understanding of calibrated tool requirements and management of calibrated tools system.
  • Understand/use techniques for effective control of delivered quality, cost, and schedule in the manufacture of aerospace machined parts
  • Skill and ability to collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; and develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources.
  • Lead a team of inspection staff across multiple inspection stations.
  • Ability to motivate, develop, and direct people as they work, identifying the best people for the job.
  • Proactive communicator who can clearly articulate results and needs across all levels.
  • Ability to establish and communicate clear priorities and to influence others to support and act on those priorities


Minimum Job Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience working in a quality or engineering role in a manufacturing environment; aerospace highly preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, relentlessly execute and deliver results in conformance with action plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations and priorities.


Desired Competencies:

  • Knowledge of AS9100 quality system requirements.
  • Lead Auditor Certification
  • Knowledge of NADCAP requirements

  • Ability to accurately read, understand, interpret and communicate the content of specifications associated with the definition of requirements, manufacturing and inspection of metals (e.g. ASTM B444, API 5CRA).
    • ASNT Level II qualification (or equivalent) in at least two applicable inspection disciplines (visual, dimensional, ultrasonic, penetrant) strongly preferred
