Purpose:
This position has responsibility for traveling to the client’s facility and performing sampling and inspection services in the field including the sampling of insulating liquids from electrical equipment, and the installation of insulating liquid sampling kits.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Obtaining proper sampling equipment and maintaining proper sampling supplies, tools, and safety equipment for all field sampling projects
  • Conducting sampling services and collecting unit inspection data and adequate identification of samples for proper laboratory testing and reporting.
  • Adhering to Federal, state, local, and Weidmann defined safety program requirements and adhering to general safety requirements where not cleared defined.
  • Handling and disposing of related hazardous materials.
  • Interfacing with clients when on-site and in all follow-up capacities.
  • Assisting office and laboratory personnel with special projects or laboratory support as required.
  • Any other duties assigned by management.
Requirements of the role:
  • To maintain a valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • To secure and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card
  • To secure and maintain DISA background and NASAP/DCCHT/DCCHA compliance subject to pre-employment and random drug tests.
  • Maintain good standing with area Safety Councils with Basic Plus training and/or CPR-First Aid when trained and employed.
  • To maintain general knowledge of transformer diagnostics and sampling techniques, including an understanding of the ASTM D923 method.
  • To complete Weidmann provided transformer and LTC training
  • To complete training to conduct equipment inspections using GoCanvas
  • Maintain a high focus on safety and to be able to perform safety site-walk/JSA to determine safety of jobsite prior to start.
  • Ability to communicate to customer any safety related refusals of sampling services (i.e., energized equipment, lockout/tagout, fall protection required, etc.)
  • Follow all environmental handling and waste handling specifications, and especially those related to spill containment.
Preferred Qualifications for the Position:
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent and prior experience in an industrial setting is required.
  • Previous work experience and knowledge on electrical equipment (i.e., transformers, LTCs, etc…) is highly desirable.
  • Prior certification and previous training on operation of infrared cameras and/or partial discharge (PD) detection devices is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience with customer service responsibilities, including experience and ability to work alongside clients is highly desirable.
  • Mechanical skills including the basic use of power and/or pneumatic hand tools.
  • Ability to meet demanding deadlines while maintaining attention to detail in completing tasks.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to communicate and present to all levels of Client’s organization.
  • Excellent organization skills required to coordinate multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to travel 50% or more, with some trips requiring overnight stays and potential air travel (may include limited international travel)
  • Able to work flexible hours including overtime as required.
  • Must be willing to take on added responsibilities and challenges to grow within the role.
