Business Need / Purpose of Role: Under the direction of the Regional VP/Director Sales, the Field Sales Engineer is responsible for maintaining direct contact with customers and engineering firms, providing technical support and troubleshooting assistance, assisting during test trial execution, and primarily being a selling agent to help achieve the short and long range process equipment sales objectives established in the Company’s Operating Plan in accordance with company policies and procedures.Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities:
  • Extensive travel required.
  • May involve international travel.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to Area Sales Managers and Manufacturer Representatives as appropriate and necessary.
  • Realize and sustain WMNA product sales growth for ALL products in this market segment.
  • Responsible for maintaining/sustaining direct contact with customers, providing technical support and assistance.
  • Build long term interdependent relationships with customers in different functions and levels of company.
  • Stay abreast of customer needs; new equipment designs and opportunities. Communicate requirements to product lines to help facilitate new product development.
  • Facilitate both tactical and strategic voice of customer (VOC) to support business strategy and growth.
  • Monitor competitor activities. Provide feedback as to market conditions and pricing levels.
  • Manage relationships within customer base and continuously improve Weir’s standing to become primary supplier.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
  • Comply with all Regional Sales Department and Company policies, procedures, and programs. Adhere to company values.
  • Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
  • Responsible for Environmental Health and Safety management and policy commitments as prescribed for this role in Weir's Duty of Care.

Nothing in this position description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications:Education and/or Experience:Bachelor’s degree: Engineering, Chemistry and/or job related experience required. Minimum 4 years cumulative post collegiate experience in the application, engineering, operations, and/or technical sales of mineral processing equipment. Varied knowledge and application of Weir Minerals North America product lines is preferred. Intermediate proficiency with software applications such as Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and technical presentation capability are required.
Language Skills:Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Mathematical:Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsRequires a valid driver’s license and the ability to rent or lease an automobile. Current passport is also required.
