Job Description

Lynn Family Stadium operated by ASM Global is a multi-use entertainment venue in Louisville, Kentucky. The Lynn Family Stadium offers a variety of world class events including concerts, family shows, sporting events and other special events, while providing a clean and safe environment and guaranteeing the ideal entertainment guest experience and satisfaction.

Position Summary:

The Field Maintenance Lead will be responsible for the oversight and maintenance of all soccer fields at the Louisville City Training Facility. This includes maintaining three natural grass fields and four synthetic fields. Along with field work, they will be required to assist with budgeting, staffing, and equipment repairs. They will report directly to the Field Maintenance Manager at Lynn Family Stadium.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage and maintain the playing surfaces at a professional-level
  • Safely operate and direct the use and operation of all groundskeeping equipment and tools
  • Maintain all storage areas and other grounds-related work areas
  • Assist in hiring personnel to ensure efficiency and effectiveness
  • Ensure that all licenses, credentials, and permits are in place for employees, partners, and vendors
  • Work closely with the Field Maintenance Manager at Lynn Family Stadium to optimize usage and events
  • Ability to fill in for Field Maintenance Manager during absences
  • Plan and manage a facility budget
  • Manages the practice field coordinator and women's field coordinator including part time employees in Grounds Department and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the team members.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with ASM's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding; disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources; addressing complaints and resolving issues.

Requirements and Desired Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in Turf Management or a related degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience working on professional sports fields or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years' experience managing multiple staff members at a professional level
  • Familiarity with all equipment necessary to maintain fields (mowing, fertilizing, aeration, etc.)
  • Certified or willing to obtain a chemical spray license in Kentucky
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to focus on details, strong organizational skills, effective problem-solving skills, flexibility, and self-motivation
  • Ability to interact with all levels of staff including coaching staff and management.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods
  • Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Capacity to work extended hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays as necessary
  • Ability and willingness to work in all types of adverse weather conditions (i.e. heat, rain, cold, snow, wind)
