The Rare Blood Disorders franchise is a patient centric organization responsible for delivering the highest quality education and service regarding disease and treatment. The goal of the franchise is to penetrate existing and new markets to meet business goals by educating physicians and healthcare professionals on a portfolio of products while upholding the Company's mission and values.

The Director, Therapeutic Education Managers (DTEM) for the West is a field-based position, responsible for managing a team of field-based Therapeutic Education Managers to support commercial objectives for Sanofi’s rare hematology portfolio. The DTEM is expected to possess a high level of clinical and customer knowledge, have experience with both field and headquarters protocols and procedures, and possess drive and spirit to engage and influence. The DTEM will be responsible for hiring, developing, inspiring, motivating and supporting the WEST TEM team.

The TEM team is responsible for calling on HCP’s and patients and collaborates with all internal stakeholders. This role works closely with field and home office-based colleagues in Marketing, Medical, Sales, TLL and Advocacy.

The Director, Therapeutic Education Manager will report to the Senior Director and Lead for the Field for Patient Support Services for the Rare Blood Disorders division.

Missions and Objectives:

West Director, Rare Hematology Therapeutic Education Manager will:

  • Help define the culture, structure, and future direction of Sanofi’s Therapeutic Education Manager Team

  • Build and lead a high-performing team, capable of effective relationship building and cross-functional coordination/collaboration.

  • Create a compliant environment which challenges, motivates and develops team members to reach optimum performance and potential.

  • Set clear objectives, coach/mentor, and assess performance and skill level to develop future leaders within Rare Blood Disorders.

  • Provide strategic customer insights to the team to develop and grow Sanofi’s rare hematology portfolio.

  • Develop appropriate budget allocations and ensure that their team takes a disciplined approach to investment.

  • Partner with commercial leadership and other internal stakeholders to develop a strategic approach to the rare hematology business

  • Align TEM Strategic plan with KPIs and objectives of the brand plan and maintain high level of communication, collaboration with commercial team.

  • Act as a sponsor and ally for inclusion and diversity in all elements of our business

  • Comply with all forms of legal and statutory regulation within domain of responsibility, including compliance with applicable SOPs, industry codes of practice and best practices and actively support and promote a compliance culture and safe environment throughout the organization

Basic Requirements:

  • BA/BS Degree is required. A nursing or clinical background is preferred; an advanced degree is a plus

  • Minimum of 10 years of overall experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry

  • 3+years leadership and people management experience in pharma, biotech, or hospital environment (rare disease)

  • Documented success in pharmaceutical / biotech leadership with a proven track record of delivering exceptional results

  • Collaborative style, responsive, considerate, flexible, assertive, and personable

  • Ability to assemble and lead cross-functional teams toward a shared vision of success

  • Demonstrated strategic planning and execution skills

  • Ability to present ideas effectively to individuals or groups, targeting presentation to the needs of the audience

  • Focus on compliance regarding interaction with HCPs and patients to ensure adherence to all operational rules, procedures, guidelines, appropriate reporting of engagements with HCPs, and requiring the same of their Team

  • Demonstrated leadership skills to manage key priorities and to lead a team of experienced TEM’s

  • Candidate must live in the West Coast

  • Strong project management experience, including superior analytical and planning skills

  • 50-60% travel required

  • Position is Field Based - Driving is an essential duty of the job; candidates must have a valid driver’s license to be considered

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or Nursing Degree

  • Rare Disease or training leadership experience preferred

  • Launch experience with rare disease product(s) or complex specialty products

The successful candidate will be required to sign and execute a restricted covenant upon hire.

Candidates must complete all fleet safety training and must maintain an acceptable driving record regarding accidents and incidents.

The base compensation is a minimum $115,500.00 + sales incentive (role may my eligible for long term incentive depending on level and performance); all compensation will be determined commensurate with demonstrated experience. This position is eligible for a company car through the Company’s FLEET program. Employees may be eligible to participate in Company employee benefit programs.
