We are hiring a Field Application Scientist (FAS) – Single Use Technology (SUT). The FAS-SUT will provide pre and post sales service support to our customers. The FAS will be required to lead FAT and SAT related activities for our SUT products. Additionally, the FAS position may be required support the Bioproduction Sales Team/Technical sales Team to ensure SUT product adoption goals in terms of meeting business and financial goals. The person in this role will be responsible for supporting new sales at targeted accounts, as well as expansion and maintenance of existing customers in order to achieve departmental and Corporate Plan within the Unites States. The ideal candidate will be based in Boston, New York, New Jersey, or Philadelphia.
**External US:Responsibilities:
  • Provide Scientific pre-sale, demonstration and post-sale application support of company product lines
  • Arrange logistics and perform product demonstrations directly or in conjunction with distribution partners
  • Serves as primary customer technician for the installation, training and troubleshooting of single-use equipment for biopharma and cell/gene therapy customers
  • Lead technical product discussions with customers
  • Work closely with the Territory Manager(s) and Bioproduction Sales team to build the pipeline and technically close deals to accomplish sales goals
  • Lead applications needs assessment & solutions development with clients
  • Deliver technical presentations to prospective and current clients
  • Develop process mapping to better understand customer needs
  • Lead SAT and Installation Qualification activities at customer sites for bioprocessing equipment
  • Perform service activities within URS guidelines and in compliance with internal and customer procedures and regulations
  • Provide responsive telephone and on-site support and work to ensure that the customer is successful in the use of their instrumentation
  • Coordinate work schedule with Territory Manager and Technical Support on equipment troubleshooting
  • Produce accurate work reports, identifying achievements, challenges and troubleshooting ideas and solutions
  • Collect and share voice of customer with marketing, customer service, engineering and product management teams to improve customer solutions
  • Collaborate with customers as needed to generate data and write up application notes and support product marketing
  • Act as a point of contact for the marketing and sales organizations in collecting market trends, competitive information and other relevant business information
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed
Experience/ Education:
  • Bachelors/Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering/Biotechnology or related field
  • 5 years minimum experience in a customer-facing role managing equipment in bioprocessing
  • Detailed working knowledge of single-use systems and technologies
  • Working knowledge of process development technologies
  • Basic understanding of buffer management and cell culture media hydration in biopharma and vaccine manufacturing
  • Knowledge of cGMP & regulatory standards for biopharma manufacturing
  • Proven experience of SAT, Installation Qualification and post-sales customer support on equipment URS
  • Experience in translating customer requirements into specific control and data-acquisition solutions
  • Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC Systems
  • Broad experience on communication protocols for data exchange with a PLC
  • Knowledge of GAMP/GMP and software validation
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical engineering and hardware troubleshooting
  • Works in a structured, results-oriented manner, willing to contribute with ideas and a hands-on approach
  • Has an outstanding customer service mentality
  • Works well independently and within an interdepartmental team
  • Willing to travel extensively to customer sites
