GDIT was awarded the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) F-35 IT program support contract. We are providing knowledge-based, information assurance and cybersecurity IT services to the F-35 JSF Virtual Enterprise (JVE) network in support of the F-35 Lightning II Joint Program Office (JPO). Our services include program management, enterprise performance management, enterprise architecture, implementation of emerging capabilities and requirements, life cycle management, operations & maintenance, enterprise data management, service desk support and IT training.

We are building a team of dedicated professionals and are currently seeking a Senior Oracle DBA.

Provides all activities related to the administration of computerized databases. Projects long-range requirements for database administration and design in conjunction with other managers in the information systems function. Designs, creates, and maintains databases in a client/server environment. Conducts quality control and auditing of databases in a client/server environment to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data. Advises users on access to various client/server databases. Designs, implements, and maintains complex databases with respect to JCL, access methods, access time, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security, documentation, and statistical methods. Applies knowledge and experience with database technologies, development methodologies, and front-end (e.g., COGNOS)/back-end programming languages (e.g., SQL). Performs database programming and supports systems design. Includes maintenance of database dictionaries, overall monitoring of standards and procedures, file design and storage, and integration of systems through database design. Integrates data from various files, including Microsoft Access, Excel, SQL, and Oracle. Performs Independent Verification & Validation (IV&V) and Quality Control/Quality Assurance. Administer, test, and implement computer databases, applying knowledge of database management systems. Coordinate changes to computer databases. May plan, coordinate, and implement security measures to safeguard computer databases.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Install, patch and maintain all Oracle software
  • Tune all Oracle instance components including SQL and PL/SQL
  • Creating storage database structures with high-level security features
  • Altering storage structures to meet the evolving needs of the customer
  • Setting up database user accounts
  • Training users on how to access the information in the database
  • Finding and debugging malfunctioning programs affecting the database integrity
  • Approve changes to database design
  • Control all migrations of Oracle schema objects
  • Design and implement a backup & recovery system
  • Implement Oracle failover technology
  • implementing structured policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and security of the entire database

Minimum Education Required:

  • BS or BA degree in a Computer Science, Information Systems Management, Mathematics, Operations Research, Statistics, or Engineering.
  • ALLOWABLE SUBSTUTION: Six (6) years of related experience or four (4) years of related experience with an AA/AS degree.

Minimum Experience Required:

  • Six (6) years of experience with database administration, database security and integrity, programming and writing scripts in PL-SQL, T-SQL or UNIX, development and management, including design and creation using best practices, importing, exporting, indexing, back-up, data processing, and database management.
  • IAT Level II baseline certification in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M, Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program, (or achieve within six months of hiring).

Security Clearance: Secret clearance based upon a SSBI or SSBI-PR completed within the past five years.
