Job Description
Job Summary: Aptive is seeking a dedicated, forward looking Expert Technical Systems Architect to support digital transformation within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This individual will work with the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA), VA Central Office (VACO) or the Office of Information Technology (OIT) to support the administration's mission with activities such as: project, product and product line management; moving from waterfall management processes to Agile and Scaled Agile practices; and from stove-piped development, delivery and operations processes to DevSecOps best practices such as Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD). We are seeking individuals committed to delivering and improving quality services to Veterans.
Primary Responsibilities: An Expert Technical Systems Architect has extensive experience in the design and development of Client Server and Web Enabled Corporate applications including network topology. Must be well versed in Object Oriented tools and techniques. Must have thorough knowledge of data modeling skills using automated tools. Must be proficient in some or all responsibilities:

  • Maintain knowledge of current and emerging technologies / products / trends related to architectural solutions.
  • Ensure alignment of solutions with business and IT goals / objectives.
  • Identify and quantify scope and impact of Business requirements and changes on systems.
  • Incorporate software and system architecture (e.g., infrastructure, network) into conceptual designs for highly scalable and performing solutions.
  • Provide strategic thinking, solutions and roadmaps while driving enterprise recommendations and ensuring adherence to established standards and practices including the development of standards and practices where they may not yet exist.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or Other Engineering or Technical Discipline is required.
    (10 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education)
  • 10 years related experience required.
  • Extensive experience in the design and development of Client Server and Web Enabled Corporate applications including network topology.
  • Must be well versed in Object Oriented tools and techniques.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of data modeling skills using automated tools.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting large Cabinet-level federal agencies, ideally the Department of Veterans Affairs.
  • Ability to get up to speed quickly on complex issues; desire to work in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment.
  • Capable self-starter with a drive to get all types of work done and high attention to detail.
  • Excellent ability to communicate across most mediums and settings.
  • Knowledge of military and Veteran populations.
