We are looking for a Hair Stylist that is a dual specialist to create flawless haircuts, styles, and colors for our guests. We put a big focus on culture and creating the best possible salon experience for both our employees and our guests. Education and growth is very important to us here at Salon Tagua, we are looking for someone who is ambitious and always eager to keep learning. We are an Aveda salon, though knowledge of Aveda is not required. We are flexible on hours whether you need part time or full and we pay commission.

Hair Stylist responsibilities include: cutting and coloring hair using basic and advanced techniques, consulting with customers and executing styles and colors, applying hair care products, treatments, and masks, keeping the salon sanitized in accordance with CDC guidelines, and suggesting take home products for guests. Ultimately, you will ensure all customers leave our salon satisfied with our services and feeling happy with their new look. We want each customer experience to be the peak of their day and highly value luxury customer service. Please attach a resume and a cover letter explaining what you’re looking for in a salon.

Responsibilities

• Welcome customers and identify their preferences by doing a thorough consultation
• Recommend hairstyles and haircuts according to customers’ features and tastes
• Recommend and create beautiful hair colors based on your clients hair, cut, and features
• Wash, rinse and dry clients’ hair using appropriate shampoos and conditioners (e.g. for oily hair or dry scalp)
• Cut, trim and shave hair using professional equipment
• Apply a wide range of hair coloring techniques, like highlights, ombre and balayage
• Create hairstyles for formal events and everyday looks, including braids, ponytails and buns
• Apply hair treatment products, as needed (e.g. botanical treatments, scalp treatments)
• Perform smooth blowouts
• If comfortable, apply makeup on guests for events
• Form bonds with regular customers and remember their preferences
• Manage bookings and serve walk-ins with help of management and the Front Desk
• Ensure tidiness of beauty stations and sterilize tools
• Ensuring safe sanitation practices and social distancing in accordance with the CDC
• Cross-sell hair care products or services, when appropriate

Skills

• Work experience as a Hair Stylist, Hairdresser, Colorist or similar role
• Proficiency in hair straightening and curling methods, using hot irons and curlers
• Hands-on experience with various coloring techniques
• Knowledge of a wide range of haircuts, suitable for all hair lengths
• Familiarity with hair treatment products and services
• Up-to-date with industry trends
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Reliability
• Physical stamina to stand for long hours
• Valid license from a cosmetology school

COVID19 Precautions

• We stick to strict capacity and social distancing guidelines for the size of our space
• We require a mask in the salon at all times (this goes for employees as well as our guests)
• A temperature check is required upon entry
• Everyone must sanitize or wash their hands immediately upon entry
• There are hand sanitizing stations throughout the salon
• Integrating a touch-less check in/check out process
• No beverage services are being offered
• Surfaces and tools are being sanitized frequently
• Certain services are limited (no beard trims/shaves, no makeup, no hand massages or skincare, no very young children as due to capacity their parents can’t come in with them, etc.)
• We have had zero COVID cases!
