Responsibilities: What You’ll Do The Fitness Specialists are responsible for monitoring participants in the performance of their exercise program to ensure he or she receives the appropriate benefits with minimal exposure to injury. Instructs the participants in the safe and effective use of all exercise equipment located in the facility. Understands the risks associated with exercise participation, and of methods of exercise for improving flexibility, muscular strength, and muscular endurance. Conducts group activity classes in fitness center. Instructs and demonstrates proper warm-up and cool-down techniques for participants, including stretching, and proper methods to measure exercise intensity. Demonstrates ability to measure pulse rate and blood pressure accurately at both rest and exercise and recognize common errors in body alignment and movement mechanics. Creates a sense of community among the membership by presence on the floor and engaging members in friendly, motivational conversation. Manages all aspects of membership management including usage and retention data, cash, facility inventory and equipment maintenance.
The successful candidate will:
  • Perform fitness profile assessment.
  • Develop individualized cardiovascular and strength training fitness programs for persons without known disease.
  • Monitor and record patient exercise responses such as blood pressure, heart rate, tolerance and symptoms.
  • Lead persons without known disease through safe and effective group and individual exercise sessions.
  • Manage all aspects of membership management including usage and retention data, cash, facility inventory and equipment maintenance.
  • Be knowledgeable of and discusses department services with potential clients.
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations per department procedures.
  • Continuously work to build a strong sense of community among members by presence on the floor, engaging members in friendly conversation during each shift, proactively introducing new members to nurture a welcoming environment.
Qualifications: What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree required in fitness, exercise or health related field
  • 3-5 years of exercise/fitness training experience required
  • Must have a passion for excellence
  • Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Professionalism displayed through sound judgement, initiative, and flexibility
  • Good interpersonal, communication, team-work, and customer service skills
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving and follow-through skills
  • Ability to multi-task constantly, react to changes quickly/productively, and tolerate interruptions
  • Ability to perform work when no directions are given, and give directions to others
  • Remain flexible, organized, professional and able to analyze, make sound decisions under stressful situations
