Executive Chef - Private Home

Location: Atherton, CA

Job Type: Full Time (40 hours/week)

  • Weekend availability required

Work Hours: 10:00 am - 6:00 pm

COMPENSATION:

  • $104,000 - $135,000/year, DOE.
  • Discretionary Bonus (Up to 20%)

SUMMARY:

English-speaking, Executive Chef - Private Home who is able to use high-quality seasonal ingredients to prepare and cook healthy & delicious Asian fusion dishes in a private home. Take full charge of the culinary services for the family. This exciting Executive Chef - Private Home position will allow for creativity, shaping of the food program and kitchen, and will be the perfect position for an organized private chef looking to wear multiple hats.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Set the tone for a creative and inspired kitchen.
  • Manage and execute all aspects of food cost, budgeting, sourcing, menu development, and preparation.
  • Menus prepared four weeks in advance with an excellent variety for review and approval.
  • Resourceful in understanding that menus must be tailored to specific dietary needs.
  • Create weekly fresh and healthy breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus using locally sourced, seasonal ingredients.
  • Responsible for providing an amazing culinary experience for the family, and also feel comfortable cooking healthy, but simpler meals for kids.
  • Presentation is an important component of the meal and should be of fine-dining quality.
  • Bakery skills include fresh bread, cakes, and desserts.
  • Responsible for keeping a clean and organized kitchen throughout the meal preparation process.
  • Responsible for leaving the kitchen immaculate after mealtimes.
  • Maintain relationships with local and regional food purveyors.
  • Responsible for all ordering, shopping, restocking, and inventory management.
  • Maintain and monitor all kitchen wares and equipment.
  • Produce and maintain the highest food quality and operating procedures.
  • Assure the highest health, hygiene, sanitation, safety, and food storage standards.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Experience:

  • Recent full-time Private Chef/Executive Chef experience in a private family is preferred.
  • 7+ years of Chef experience and a Culinary Degree or certificate.
  • Able to provide 2-3 excellent references from domestic positions.
  • Has a diverse experience with a variety of food styles. Candidates who master Asian fusion dishes are preferred.

  • Ability to distinguish, with a degree of accuracy, the differences or similarities in intensity and quality of flavors or aromas with a degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to move about the workplace efficiently with care and consideration to noise and spatial awareness.
  • Ability to grab, reach, push, pull, bend, stoop, kneel and crouch in order to retrieve and/or replenish merchandise and/or cooking equipment.
  • Ability to use hands to seize, hold, grasp, turn, or otherwise, in order to chop, whisk, slice, stir, juice and/or other techniques.
  • Ability to lift and/or move kitchen equipment weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for up to 3 hours at a time.
  • Ability to work on iPhone and Mac platforms as well as GoogleDocs and Google Calendar.

Others:

  • Local Private Chef/Executive Chef candidates preferred. Willing to relocate if needed.
  • Knowledge of California sanitation regulations.
  • Food ServSafe certification.
  • US work authorization.
  • Driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Must pass extensive background, driving, and credit checks.
