The Pensacola News Journal is seeking an Environmental Waterways Reporter to cover Northwest Florida’s beautiful Gulf Coast. The Waterways reporter has a deep understanding of the culture of our environment as it relates to the quality of life in our community. This includes the balance of public use and land ownership with the protection of our natural environment and wildlife, and serves as a watchdog to ensure the area’s explosive growth doesn’t come at the expense of our best resources. This position is based in Pensacola, but covers the issues that impact residents along the Panhandle’s Gulf Coast. The ideal candidate has a passion for storytelling and is able to make their stories engaging and relevant on all platforms – through the web, social media and the printed newspaper. You will be expected to master a variety of digital tools to ensure the story reaches a vast audience, including video, storytelling, social media and community outreach. If you’re a confident, self-starter who believes in making a difference in your community, this job is for you.
