Tetra Tech’s Chicago, IL office is seeking a Mid-Level Environmental Engineer/Scientist to primarily serve as a quality control (QC) supervisor to oversee quality control at a remediation project in Evansville Indiana. The QC supervisor will work full-time property remediation team on a large remediation project. The position will be responsible for managing all aspects of the quality control program at the site. The remediation project involves excavation and restoration of residential properties throughout the City of Evansville. The QC supervisor will coordinate activities of other Tetra Tech staff at the site, including a property coordinator and the health and safety officer. The QC supervisor will also work closely with the site superintendent of the construction contractor to ensure work activities completed by the construction crews comply with the project quality requirements. Other short-term work may be required outside the Evansville area.
Must be highly motivated, customer focused, and work well in a team environment. Must also have the ability to manage a heavy workload. Excellent communication, client interaction, and organizational skills, as well as proficiency with MS Office applications are required. Experience with cost-reimbursement type contract is desired, but not required. Formal education or training in field sampling related to hazardous waste (e.g., environmental science/engineering, chemistry, geology, or hydrogeology) and experience working on environmental construction and remediation projects required, including a minimum of three (3) years working experience in quality control at hazardous waste remediation sites. Experience with hazardous waste site remedial investigations, field sampling, and air quality monitoring preferred. Knowledge of federal and state regulations a plus. B.A/B.S. degree required. 40-Hour OSHA certification required. Completion of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Construction Quality Management for Contractors course desired, but not required. Heavy lifting of field sampling and other equipment will be required. Candidate must also meet physical demands of hazardous waste site work. Local travel is required and varies based on project requirements; may include weekend travel and work. Candidate may be exposed to various weather conditions while performing work outside. Other travel may be required outside the Evansville area.
