GENERAL SUMMARY:
  • Maintains the environment for the Health System by performing environmental duties in accordance with Regulatory Agency Standards, Infection Control, Hospital and Department Policies.
  • Cleaning all surfaces
  • Disinfecting all surfaces
  • Dustings all surfaces
  • Replenishing all supplies
  • Spot clean carpet and upholstery
  • Clean up spills
  • Change linen and make beds
  • Operate vacuum cleaning equipment
  • Dust mop and damp mop floors, stairs and landings
  • Disposes of hazardous and non-hazardous waste
  • Report needs for repair of equipment and unsafe situations
  • Machine scrub corridors and floors
  • Move
  • equipment in corridor to properly clean floors
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSURE:
  • High School Diploma and/or GED - Preferred.
  • Basic skills in reading, writing and arithmetic.
  • One to three months on the job training or previous experience, preferred

    REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to read and write English.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Able to demonstrate interpersonal and verbal skills necessary to effectively communicate with patients, visitors, and co-workers.
  • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail.
  • Prioritize assigned tasks and organize work.
  • Walk and stand for approximately 90% of work time.
  • Lift, turn and position equipment.
  • Bend, twist, turn, stoop and reach 90% of work time.
  • Able to walk and stand for up to 90% of work time when performing cleaning duties.
  • Able to lift 40 lbs.
  • Ability to utilize safe body mechanics.

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Patient Care environment with some exposure to potentially infectious body fluids and other contaminants.
  • Regular exposure to chemical odors, fumes and cleaning solvents.
