Boasting of more than 20 museums and 7 historic houses, the rich historic tapestry is on full display. Knox County's population is less than 200,000, with residents enjoying a cost of living that's lower than the national average, reflected in reasonable housing ($124,500 medium home value), utility and transportation costs. Home of the University of Tennessee, (go Volunteers!) Knoxville's population is fairly young, which is due in part to a large number of college students, as well as a high number of young families. With more than 55 parks, seven farmers’ markets and a full roster of music and sporting events, Knoxville offers all of the amenities of a big city, with all the affordability of a small town.
