Position Overview:
This fully benefitted Contract-In Engineering Aide position is expected to last through 2022 with the possibility of going permanent. Budget analysis will be conducted in Q1 2022 for extending the position.
SDOT's Transportation Operations Division (TOD) seeks an Engineering Asset Analyst (under the City classification title of Engineering Aide) to support project intake and coordination by tracking Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) assets to be placed in inventory constructing under the Move Seattle Levy and other project funds. The Engineering Asset Analyst will prepare, compile and sort information related to Levy deliverables for data entry and asset management, verify sources for accuracy, and correct data where necessary, obtain further information for incomplete documents, update data and delete unnecessary files, combine, and rearrange data from multiple sources where required, and transfer that data to others for input to databases. Data will come from multiple sources including engineering plans, engineering documents and reports. In addition, the Engineering Aide may support entering traffic data into databases, logs, and other recording means, to support ready access to the most current data. Several SDOT Divisions, including TOD, rely on this data to support delivery of Move Seattle Levy and other programs/projects. - Prepare, compile, and sort electronic documents for data entry; check sources for accuracy; verify and correct data where necessary; obtain further information for incomplete electronic documents; update data and delete unnecessary files; combine and rearrange data from multiple sources where required.
- Revise GIS maps, and maintain data element changes, deletions, or additions as needed.
- Assist with the upload and verification of data from a variety of traffic counting devices.
- Assist in the design and preparation of data visualizations and reports.
- Supports SDOT goals in promoting diversity and social justice.
- Satisfactory completion of high school mathematics including trigonometry (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class).
- Current State of Washington driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility.
Your success in this position will depend on your ability and/or experience in the following:
- Associates Degree in Engineering, Civil or Transportation Engineering preferred.
- Two (2)+ years of experience reading, interpreting, and understanding of engineering plans.
- One (1)+ years of experience in AutoCAD.
- Experience with Hansen software, a plus.
- Effectively work in a multi-cultural workplace with a diverse customer base.
- Most work is performed in a normal City work/office environment. Alternative work/hybrid office arrangements available.
- Some work is performed in the field including exposure to all types of weather, traffic, or hazardous/toxic substances.
- May be required to lift over 50 pounds.
- May be required to stand, walk, or bend for extended periods of time.
