Job Description

Full time Client Services Supervisor position involving day, evening, and weekend coverage for qualified individuals at Lutheran, Hospital, FT Wayne, IN location in the ESS Department. Schedule is Monday - Friday 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM.

The Client Services Supervisor leads, monitors, and evaluates the day-to-day activities and functions of the Eligibility Services Representatives engaged in screening referred self-pay patients for programs such as Medicare, Medicaid, Medicaid for Nursing Home Placement, Crime Victims, Vocational Rehabilitation, QMB, SSI and any/all other third party coverage including other available local, state and federal programs and the Hospital’s Financial Assistance Program; also provides Point of Service collections for self-pay patients, patients who have balances after insurance or Medicare payments, and patients that do not qualify for any programs/coverage. Duties also include:

  • Provides leadership to multiple staff members on the ESS team
  • Coordinates day-to-day activities to ensure timely completion of tasks and projects
  • Interviews job applicants and participates in selection of staff;
  • Ensures that staff maintain an appropriate work flow to meet department standards
  • Implements unit work goals and monitors progress towards these goals; meets with staff accordingly to ensure goals are met.
  • Conducts team and individual employee conferences to discuss or interpret departmental rules, regulations, policies and procedures, and performance problems
  • Reviews case documentation for completeness and accuracy as well as taking necessary action to correct errors
  • Provides direction and guidance in the appropriate application of policies and procedures to complex or unusual case circumstances
  • Provides guidance in the use of systems and related tools to meet processing and reporting requirements
  • Provides staff development
  • Serves as the central point of contact regarding ESS services for the hospital leadership team and other key personnel at a specific location within a region.

Education:


A Bachelor’s degree or relevant supervisory experience in lieu of degree, preferably in a mid to large hospital Business Office/Patient Access department or supervisor/lead in an Eligibility company preferred.


Experience:


  • Working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, Medicaid for Nursing Home Placement, Crime Victims, Vocational Rehabilitation, QMB, SSI and any/all other third party coverage and other available local, state and federal programs preferred.
  • Average proficiency using computers for data entry (specifically Microsoft Word and Excel), email, web searching, etc. preferred.
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and delegate work.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common financial reports and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from employees, customers, and regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information to company employees including top management.
  • Ability to handle new responsibilities or respond quickly to change in procedures or situations.
  • Ability to make appropriate recommendations, decisions, and independent judgments.
  • Capable of strong human relations skills and ability to practice, sincere empathy for others.
  • High emotional maturity and ability to function under stress including making timely decisions under pressure
