EHS Ergonomist

JOB SUMMARY:

To perform a variety of professional duties involved in developing and coordinating ergonomic related activities of Textron Aviation; develop and conduct ergonomic training classes.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

I. Conducts ergonomic assessments of work areas as requested by, but not limited to, physicians, managers, claims administrators and facilities planners; develop and recommend appropriate engineering or work process modifications to prevent employee illness or injury; provide follow up assessment of recommendations; provide reports to physicians and claims administrators for use in determining causation when seeking remediation of workplace problems

II. Participates in Ergonomics Kaizens; educates, trains and supports committee members selected from various disciplines

III. Educates employees in ergonomic concepts relating to their individual tasks or work areas and provides information to employees about preventive and corrective ergonomic modifications; supports all management levels with education and accommodation assessments as appropriate

IV. Recommends equipment purchases, workspace planning, work process planning, ergonomic modifications and work accommodation assessments as appropriate

V. Analyzes illness and injury data from the Textron Aviation Safety Department in conjunction with ergonomic overview assessments to prioritize musculoskeletal illness/injury reduction and prevention efforts VI. Coordinates and administers the Textron Aviation Ergonomics Program in compliance with company standards and governmental regulations; reviews plans/specifications for construction/ machinery/processes to determine whether the interface between the human operator and the workplace is ergonomically acceptable; provides approvals and recommends design changes as appropriate; analyzes and evaluates ergonomic risk factors; other assignments may include additional responsibilities in Safety or Engineering

VII. Assists with implementation/rollout and ongoing activities associated with the Ergonomics Initiative at Textron Aviation

VIII. Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein


EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Ergonomics or other related field Professional

QUALIFICATONS:

  • Strong organizational, human relations and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in team environments
  • Good understanding of Workman’s Compensation related to Ergo injuries
  • Industrial/manufacturing experience preferable
